1-800-Flowers Now Owns Flowers.mobi

I remember sitting next to the attorney from 1800-Flowers during the auction when Rick bought the domain. I remember him telling me he was authorized to purchase the domain for $60k. You should have seen the look on his face when he flew by the $60k mark, he looked so disappointed at the time.

If he’s still there, I’m sure he’s probably laughing now.

$5k was the price it was listed for on Domaining sponsored headline by Anunt.

I outgunned 1800flowers for the .com version of a major cctld they hold. They tried to acquire the .com in the past and failed as the seller was very unmotivated. I inquired 20X over 3 years before she even responded and even then we drove a hard bargain..in the end though I think we got a great deal.

Gnanes – I believe Anunt bought it from Rick for $6.5k and was trolling his website for weeks afterwords. If he says 45k, must be true

Flowers.com — very nice guys — they paid the whole escrow.com fee without even asking.

I have bought and sold thousands of domain names thru escrow.com and escrow fee is always split 50/50 between buyer and seller…but these guys at Flowers.com picked up the tab without asking!

I am going to send them Flowers thru Flowers.mobi … LOL

Estibot puts a $205,000 valuation on it. LOL

Both Estibot.com and Valuate.com says STFU.com is worth $284,000

With the potential release of thousands of new TLDs and .mobi being the only ‘mobile’ extension, if the public become accustomed to seeing new domain extensions being advertised, and if the ‘mobile web’ (by that I mean people actually using mobile websites and web based HTML 5 apps) continues to grow, then Flowers.mobi could still be a winner for 1800FLOWERS. The main detractor would be people forgetting the correct URL and typing .com instead but that could all change soon if new TLDs take off. Anyhow, it’s a cheap ‘bet’ for 1800FLOWERS, saving $195k also. Probably the cheapest they could ever have got it for. Although it’s not really a bet as their future is in their own hands, unlike domainers who rely on others fortunes.

In response to a few emails:

1) I do not buy .mobi domain names and I have no interest in buying any.

2) I am not a good person to give you a value for your .mobi domain names.

3) I do not broker domain names.

@Anunt flowers.mobi was a vanity purchase on your behalf (been there done that still paying for it). It was purchased for it’s fame sake, but never the less you’ve come out of it a little less unscathed than it’s prior purchaser.

Some friendly advice, get yourself a portfolio of expired PPC domains with traffic from various registers and you’ll make up the difference in no time 🙂

Guess dot mobi indexes just as well in Google as any other extension! Content is king . . . Search, mobile tech.
