Dell is not only suing one domain name reseller but many along with a couple of companies who buy and sell domain names. The reasons for this recent lawsuit are that the individuals in question have been using the "Dell" name within their own URLs for more than 1,100 domain names. It is called cybersquatting and if Dell wins this lawsuit it may open a Pandora's box for others that own domain names that are near identical to other popular company websites. The individuals in the domain name reseller lawsuit are being charged with trademark infringement, dilution and cybersquatting.
Many people who look to purchase cheap domain name registration keep their eye out for popular website URLs that have been changed with a few more letters or possibly a common typo in order to catch all of the traffic that is trying to get to the actual company's website but makes a mistake while searching or typing in the URL. For example, a possible website that could be considered as cybersquatting is delll.com. That extra "l" may not be a website Dell owns therefore someone else could by it and reap the benefits.
