This has become a thriving business with the number of sites and people looking for a certain domain name and willing to pay for that name. I assume people are since there are businesses that are actively engaged in this.

If you want to purchase domain names, there are a number of domain name resellers online for you to check out to see if a specific domain name is available.  For anything dealing with the internet, hosting and domains, there are businesses that will capitalize on any business opportunity. Thank goodness there are companies that are not out to make a quick buck, but are willing to offer services at a reasonable price.

That is why I went with a cheap domain name registration when I was establishing my web site. I found it easier not to worry about registering it myself but letting my site host do it for me. There are a number of companies with whom you can register your domain name. I chose to let the host do it for me.
