2013 Go Daddy .CO Super Bowl Commercial

Go Daddy released its 2013 .CO Super Bowl commercial, and I think it’s pretty solid. The commercial is called YourBigIdea.CO, and I think it will resonate with anyone that has had a business idea but put it off for another day.

It’s not a “sexy” commercial, but it’s funny and it will most likely drive boost sales considerably.

One thing I would have like to seen on the YourBigIdea.CO website (well, the Go Daddy website after you search for a .CO domain name) is the ability to try and acquire a domain name that isn’t available. There is a message that says they can “help you get it” but that’s only for backordering. It would be neat if they offered their Domain Buy Service there, too.

Update: Go Daddy added it.

What do you think of the commercial and website?

  1. Idea is good. Not new one but good for advertising.
And it’s suitable for promo of any extension as well.

But… This ad is finished with so not natural laugh..
Was it for reason? Some special sense of humor in America?
Should it provocate you for .co purchase?
P.S.: I’m not in .co trein and wasn’t.

  3. I am not in advertising but do not understand profiling dorks to sell something. For the same money and energy this could have been inspiring.

They could have just had people saying their own name to sell .co like, “Elliot Silver, Incorporated…” And shown someone typing it out on godaddy.com. Many would flock to buy their own name. Show parents with their kids dreaming of the future, etc.

  4. Hey Elliot, we just turned on Domain Buy Service for .CO. Now if a search is made on a registered domain users will be given the “still want test.co? we can help you get it” and if they click the “learn more” button they can either purchase Domain Buy or a backorder.

  5. HRMMM – “yourbigidea.com” is on internettraffic.com’s DNS, but redirects to the .co godaddy promo site

I wonder how much godaddy is paying the anonymous registrant for the .com traffic?

  6. Like the way it shifts to different countries…..and the composition at first—–but then there’s too much background space and as I had replied to Olex….the end has an erie laugh to it…. ; \ The Superbowl Ad? Hm….. : \ It least it will publicize .co’s as I have several I want to get rid of…..

The general public doesn’t know hardly about .com’s yet….leave alone .co’s……I think they should have pushed .com—-more people would ‘get it.’

    • The problem is that most .com extensions are taken. That would be a frustrating and negative experience for most customers. Go Daddy would rather lead people to greener pastures.

    • True….but it would create a demand for those .com names….many .com’s are not built on, many waiting to be sold—-“Supply and Demand”…..economics…….That’s just my take. : \

  7. It was an amusing ad until the last 5-10 seconds. Then it just became juvenile (perhaps a shoutout to things like “Danica Patrick’s Beaver” campaign).

That sort of fake laughing as a way to end a bit is the kind of thing you see on shows like Conan O’Brian (cf. DPB reference above).
