All Booked for THE Domain Conference

The first edition of THE Domain Conference is coming up in about a month and a half, and I am all booked. The conference is being organized by Howard, Barbara, and Ray Neu, and I think it is taking the place of the annual TRAFFIC conference that has been retired.

THE Domain Conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six hotel in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The conference is scheduled to run from September 26-29. The first day of the conference is September 27, and pre-show networking will take place on September 26. The conference agenda has been posted, and it looks like there are some good speakers and panels lined up.

The round trip flight  from Boston to Ft. Lauderdale was  less than $200, and the hotel cost for the two nights I will be there was under $250. Conferences passes are priced at $699 + Florida sales tax. I am not sure if the cost of the conference ticket will increase as we get closer to the event.

The conference is coming at an interesting time in the domain space. It seems like various economies around the world may be softening a bit, and assuming that is the case, it could have an impact on the domain name aftermarket. In addition, there has been a lot of talk about the new gTLD domain names within the industry, and it will be interesting to hear from other investors and registries about how things are going.

I am looking forward to attending THE Domain Conference next month and hope to see you there. Are you planning to attend?

  1. THE Domain Conference organizers should learn what “warm hospitality” is all about from those folks who organized the very successful DomainX in India.

    FREE ADMISSIONS
FREE FOOD- ALL you can eat delicious spicy curry, basmati rice, fire cooked chicken/mutton/goat, fresh coconut and sweet juicy mangoes ,all plucked from the garden of Gods.

Lighting of the candles to observe Domain week celebration.

  2. They expect people to pay 700 bucks to listen to Morgan Linton as the keynote speaker rambling on about how much he loves .XYZ?

    No thanks.

  3. I think Morgan has a great story to tell. He’s a money maker. First he’s had a long running blog that is popular in many demographics after all this time, and monitized to perfection. Second, after feeling his way around through the millions of ideas most domainers have that never get seen through, he got focused and Merlin aside, has to be one of the youngest domainers to build a business from scratch from the ground up- being featured on Shark Tank, attracting investors like Mark Cuban and more- getting written up all over of the place because they have addressed an unsolved problem in a huge market as buying shifts online- and he is growing the business by leaps and bounds. And from what I see on Facebook he is doing it all with the love of his life traveling the world in the process. The problem is not the speakers, it’s the conference organizer needs a better copywriter who can make the sessions sound as compelling as they will be. (smile)

  4. I know that Morgan has blogged about .xyz before, i have read them all and that’s cool if he’s a believer.

But if .xyz is the hottest new thing and will soon replace the .com, why is fashionmetric.xyz still available.

I guess that will be the next read on a blog that fashionmetric.com is now fashionmetric.xyz.

  5. In terms of who would be a better Keynote Speaker, no offense to Morgan, but I think Mike Cyger would be the best choice based on who’s listed as a panelist and who is still actively involved in the industry. As to why Mike Cyger, he’s a proven successful domain investor, and he’s got much more significant experience operating successful businesses, and more than one. Kudos to Morgan on FM and its continued success, I’m sure he’ll do a fine job as keynote as well. That said I think Mike Cyger is someone who does a lot of selfless things for the domain industry to help others, and he has a ton of experience as an operator running a business, so that’s why he’s my choice. Also, I should note that Braden is a rock-star as well and also someone domainers and or business owners could learn a lot from.

  6. I’m really looking forward to THE Domain Conference and I know Howard and crew will deliver. I always enjoy catching up with friends and meeting new people. Hope to see you there.
