Bari Meyerson Out at Moniker

I was very disappointed to learn the my longtime account executive at Moniker, Bari Meyerson, is no longer with the company. Unfortunately, Bari could not offer information on her departure from the company, but I understand that she may not be the only Moniker employee affected.

Several years ago, I met Bari and Moniker founder Monte Cahn at a TRAFFIC conference, and I immediately felt comfortable using Moniker for my most valuable domain names. Whenever I had any type of issue with Moniker, I could always count on Bari to resolve it. With Bari, I felt that I had a ally within the company who would go to bat for me if needed.

I am upset to see Bari go, but I am confident that she will find employment in the domain industry. Bari knows the major players in the domain business, and I am sure someone will hire her ASAP.

  1. I am very disappointed to hear this news. Bari is terrific. I have a pretty simple situation that doesn’t require much customer service. But Bari was incredibly professional, prompt, and reliable whenever I asked her for help. I wish her well, and yes, if she is interested in a new position in the domain industry, somebody should hire her for sure.

  2. @ Jeff

Same here. Whenever I had an issue or needed something done promptly, Bari handled it for me immediately. Things started to change several months ago when she had to route things through Oversee support, but she still did almost everything I asked (renewals, transfers, reminders…etc).

  3. We feel the same – Just learned that Moniker’s long time employee & our Sr. account rep (Don Lyons) has left Moniker…and quite suddenly. We were given no warning, which adds to the mystery of just what the hell is going on over at Moniker right now.

  4. I had hated Moniker until I had worked with Bari. She was the ONLY person who could get things done and get them done fast.

She is a major loss to an otherwise incompetent group.

I wish her only success wherever she lands next.

I have no insight into this, but I would expect Bari to land on her feet pretty quickly. If I owned a domain registrar or other public facing domain company, I would reach out to her ASAP to hire her. She knows everyone, and more importantly, she knows how people operate in order to get things done right.

  5. Sad to hear. The times I did need her assistance she did it very quickly and fast. She will get a much better job. Domain Holdings or something like that.

Ship been sinking for moniker for months now. Let them sink IMO. All the talent is gone.

  6. We feel the same — Monikers loss,
Don Lyons has been our account rep for years and has always been there for us. Can’t believe it.

All the Best to Don and Bari…

  7. Boy. Bad enough when Monte left.

Now Bari and Don both gone as well.

They were always great with me.

    Who’s next? Who’s left?

As others are saying, looks like it may be time to reassess things.

  8. Bari is talented and smoking hot. Moniker is imploding and I am sure with her background, she can pick something up. I would like to see her go into biz for herself.

Best wishes Bari if your reading this.

  9. Where’s my Don! Emails went unanswered for weeks… But a senior person at snapnames is now randomly helping me… Moniker must be seriously scrambling. And their transfer portal has been down…

  10. I was about to move all my domain names from Moniker until a domainer friend referred Bari to me. She became my acc executive since then and handled all my moniker issues almost immediately. Thank you very much Bari! All the best to Bari!

  11. I always felt I could count on Bari to go the extra distance for me with her responsiveness – case in point, I got an Out of Office AutoReply from Bari in 2010 when she went to L.A. for a conference – it’s acceptable when those communications in reply to someone hoping for a detailed response read as indifferent and devoid of personality, yet Bari’s email came with her caring stamp – she had composed it so efficiently, it was as if she was being clairvoyant in anticipation of her clients’ needs. I remember feeling satisfied; Bari’s AutoReply had addressed my question. Nevertheless, within two minutes, I got a new message from Bari. That action on her part was what a friend might do and it was exactly how she made me feel by assuring me of her availability for a conversation upon her return and wishing me a great weekend. It can be no coincidence to find a volume of comments here echoing the sentiment Elliot has expressed regarding Bari. Apparently, I was no exception; Bari treated so many others in this warm and friendly way and it shouldn’t surprise me, but it does because I can’t imagine her finding the time to focus such personal attention on everyone. I guess the effect Bari had on customer loyalty during her tenure at Moniker is an amazing testament to how tirelessly she did her job. Where Bari Meyerson goes next, that’s a company I’d want as my vendor.

  12. I was so disappointed to hear that Bari is no longer with Moniker, she was the main reason that I’m with Moniker and now she’s gone i guess there is no reason to stay. I had over 3000 domains with godaddy when i started to work with Bari and had transferred all of my domains to her, i dont know what is happening to with oversee but its not looking positive.

I hate to see Bari go and they better find someone better than Bari to make it worth my while to stay as customer.

    Miss you Bari.

  13. I already said how sorry I am to hear that Bari is leaving. Now that I see that Don is leaving, that is really disturbing as well. Good luck to you as well, Don. I enjoyed working with you.

  14. I agree Jeff, JX & Steve M… Don has been my guy for about 4 years. I have near 200 .coms that I created & have maintained over the past 12 years. Don helped me sell about a dozen.

If someone has his or Bari’s email address, please contact me as I would like to discuss an opportunity with them.

Don/Bari, go to my website for my phone number.

    Stan

  15. I don’t think letting go of your best people is the best business model.

Moniker has basically been circling the drain since Monte left.

I just don’t see any compelling reason to stay.

My domains are on the way out of Moniker.

    Brad

  16. It’s not often I post on blogs or forums but I need to get this off my chest. I was notified by Don yesterday he had left Moniker and I am furious as well as shocked Oversee would be so stupid as to allow this to happen. My custom and loyalty is always with the professionals who make a great company like Moniker used to be and NOT the damn brand. I am now considering my response to Oversee to show my dismay and full support to Don who has not only been the most professional and knowledgeable individual I have ever had the good fortune to work with but is also considered a good friend. I have emailed Don and will be speaking with him tomorrow as I have no intention to stop working with him and I will offer my full support and co-operation to him with what ever direction he chooses to follow. Ree.

No… if she didn’t do her job, people wouldn’t care. I don’t care what she looks like. She got sh*t done for me. It’s called customer relationship management, and she excelled at it. She made each client feel like they were her most important client.

  17. Hello, I would just like to update my previous post. I have spoken with Don and it seems I have jumped to the wrong conclusions as far as Oversee is concerned so I apologise to them for not getting all the facts first. Don is busy with is own project and his departure from Moniker was his choice. Don has assured me Moniker.com is still a first class registrar with first class professionals looking after my valuable assets so based on Don’s recommendations I will be sticking with them as my main registrar of choice and I wish my old friend all the best with is new venture which I am sure will be a huge success. Regards, Ree

  18. I was wondering why Don wasn’t listed as my rep anymore and my pricing at Moniker increased? By the time they find a buyer they will have no customers left =/

  19. Bari was arguably the best customer service rep I’ve dealt with in any industry. She’ll be sorely missed. If you read this Bari, please let me know if you’ve landed at another registrar. You can reach me at LinkedIn.

  20. Bari is a huge loss to Moniker. They didn’t even bother information us who our rep would be. I found out when an email to her bounced. They have not communicated regarding their successive price increases either. What’s going on over there? And which registrar is offering good service to portfolio owners these days?

  21. I also just found out that Bari’s gone. She’s still listed in my account as account exec, but when I couldn’t reach her, I decided to google her and arrived at this post.

Bari has always been very good at her job. Very friendly, very professional. I did however get the impression over the past year that she had “less room to maneuver”. I guess that’s all a result of the takeover.

Moniker today is no longer the company I once loved.

Just for the record, I see a lot of people here like Don Lyons. I did not. Don became my account manager when they fired Chris. I have (and have had) domains at Namecheap, Godaddy, Fabulous, directnic, Webair, dotster, Name.com and a few others. The worst and the most unprofessional behavior I have ever seen was displayed by Don Lyons. If Bari hadn’t taken over my account, I would have left Moniker.

Now that Bari’s gone and Moniker’s support is going downhill (while their prices are going up), I doubt I’ll stay at Moniker.
