Boulevards Looking to Sell One Major City.com Domain Name

boulevards-logoI received an email from Frank Aiello of Domain Holdings yesterday, and there were a number of major US city .com domain names listed for sale. Included in the list was Philadelphia.com, Detroit.com, Memphis.com, SaltLakeCity.com, and a few others. I immediately knew these names are owned by Boulevards, and I reached out to Dan Pulcrano, CEO of Boulevards, to inquire further.

Although Dan has several of these domain names listed for sale, he is not looking to sell all of them. Here’s what Dan had to say in an email to me yesterday:

“We are not selling all of them, but are willing to entertain offers to sell ONE domain. In other words, if one fetches a high enough price we would sell, but then we would keep the rest.

We are doing it to bring in capital to invest in our core sites. We have been rebuilding our platform for two years. The new platform is live on LosAngeles.com. It is way more interactive, has a new CMS, a top-to-bottom rebuild on the business directory—and we just added events.”

I think it’s a smart strategy to list several non-core domain assets to attract interest and raise funds for the core business. Dan’s company employs many and his platform has been undergoing an expensive revolution. It’s difficult to maintain a large portfolio of profitable websites, so staying focused on your primary markets is a wise business move from someone who was shrewd enough to acquire all of these assets in the first place.

Each of these cities is unique and will likely appeal to a different audience. If a potential buyer knows only one of these domain names will likely be sold, they will probably be more likely to make a stronger offer knowing that should someone else strike a deal on another domain asset, the name they want may be taken off the market.

In case you are interested or have someone with deep pockets in mind, the Boulevards-owned domain names that were listed yesterday are:

Philadelphia.com $2,500,000
Memphis.com $950,000
Milwaukee.com $850,000
StPetersburg.com $750,000
Detroit.com $750,000
Indianapolis.com $750,000
Raleigh.com $750,000
SaltLakeCity.com $750,000
