Clutter Raises $2m But Clutter.com Not for Sale

TechCrunch published an article about a startup called Clutter that just raised $2 million in funding. Clutter not only offers storage services, but it also offers the pick-up and drop-off of items that need to be put in storage. It seems that Clutter is making it easier to use a storage company.

Clutter currently operates its website on the Clutter.io domain name. When I read about the recent funding round, I visited Clutter.com to see if anyone was operating on that domain and/or if Clutter had acquired or could acquire Clutter.com. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like an acquisition of Clutter.com is on the horizon.

On the homepage of Clutter.com, the domain name owner makes it pretty clear that Clutter.com is not for sale. Not only does it state, “clutter.com is NOT for sale 🙂 Thanks for visiting,” but it makes it clear that Clutter.io has expressed an interest in buying Clutter.com:

This guy is really persistent in wanting the clutter domain – if you have a mess, help him sell his de-clutter services at www.clutter.io (I have not used his services, but he seems nice enough).”

As many people in the domain name business may agree, the more times “no” is said when asked about selling a domain name, oftentimes the offer that is made increases. I have no idea how much money was offered for Clutter.com, but it doesn’t seem like the domain owner is willing to part with the domain name.

In my opinion, everything has a price. There are certain domain names I have no interest in selling, but if offers reach a certain number, it would not make sense to pass, regardless of how attached I am to a particular domain name.

I’ll keep monitoring Clutter.com and see if the owner of Clutter.io is persistent enough to convince the domain owner to sell. Clutter.com is a great domain name, but perhaps a deal will be presented that is too good to refuse.

    Pretty much how I feel.
