Domain Sales Q&A With Jeff Gabriel

The two most common  requests I receive are for brokerage services and for domain sales help. For the first type of request, I typically suggest that people have a look at a list of domain brokers I compiled. For the second, I usually say “sorry, I can’t help you” or refer them to an article I wrote on my blog about the specific topic.

If you are attending NamesCon in a couple of weeks and you have questions about selling domain names, there is a session that you won’t want to miss. Jeff Gabriel, Vice President of Sales at Domain Name Sales, will be speaking on a panel called “Eliminating Roadblocks to selling YOUR domains.” The format of this panel is a question and answer session where attendees can ask Jeff questions about selling domain names, and he will share his advice with people in the audience.

Here’s the description of the panel session:

Bring your own scenarios, situations, and questions about sales to be discussed with Jeffrey Gabriel, Vice President of Sales at DomainNameSales and his team. This will be a QnA based on real world situations that could have ended better.

Did I get the full price for my domain?
Why did the buyer walk away?
What could I do better?

This panel will be held on Wednesday, January 14 from 9:55am – 10:40am in the D – Whoisology Room at the Tropicana. Since this panel is part of the conference, only NamesCon attendees are invited to attend / participate.

People are encouraged to submit questions ahead of time to have a better chance of having your question answered by Jeff. Additionally, I received an email from Domain Name Sales today, and the company has invited clients and others to schedule meetings members of the sales team, including Jeff Gabriel. Perhaps he can answer specific questions more in depth in a private meeting.

Jeff and his team at DNS have sold more domain names than most, and this panel seems like a good opportunity to ask some of your domain name sales questions.

  1. It’s a long long time since Frank/DNSales released evidence to DNJournal that they have done any sales. Perhaps a mass release asap, (of their sales over the last six months) would lend credence to their claims of expertise.

    • I don’t think a lack of recent sales reports would nullify their expert status. Perhaps they’ve made a business decision to not share their sales any more.

Whatever the case is, I think Jeff’s history and Frank’s trust in Jeff in his current role are more telling than not reporting sales.

    • That Frank is one of the few truly trustworthy souls in this field is undeniable. I’ve had a large number of as yet undeveloped assets with him since he started DNSales. On that point we agree.

However, to front a panel titled ‘… selling YOUR domains’ with no obvious public track record of named sales (inform me if this is incorrect), my trust in Jeff’s ‘expertise’ is clearly less than yours.

I’m simply inviting him to convince me that he’s worthy of the title ‘expert’ by releasing the names of domains he has brokered, that don’t have NDAs.

    • I’d also be happy to see more data, but I trust that Frank did his homework when it came to hiring someone to manage his company’s sales.

It’s always good to ask for more information. Trust but verify is one of my favorite business sayings.
