Don’t Stop Domaining

No matter how hard I try, I can’t seem to stop working… whether I am out to dinner or on vacation, I always seem to find myself thinking about business. It’s not necessarily bad – unless you happen to be a person with whom I am spending my “free” time.

Nevertheless, it’s not always a bad thing (I think). We’ve been staying right on Jardin du Luxembourg, and it’s a beautiful area, as you can see from the photographs in this post. We went for a run in the gardens this morning and it was magnificent. Ā  Been rainy for a few days, but the past two have been sunny in the high 70s.

While relaxing this evening, I went to see who owns JardinDuLuxembourg.com, and the name had expired and was not owned by anyone at the time. I pinged Bari (my rep at Moniker), and as she usually does when I send a message to her, she bought it instantly on my behalf.

I may post some photos on my new domain name when I have a chance and write a little bit about the area. There are quite a few hotels, restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops, apartments…etc. It’s too bad I didn’t own it before I left… would be interesting to ask my accountant about expensing some of this trip… kidding.

Talk to you all soon… It’s time for some wine in the gardens.

  1. The cost of registering a domain, taking some photos and posting them is so small that all domainers that travel should build a small site of the places they travel to. Why giveaway the content to travel sites when all you have to do is take a few photos and write a 100 word personal review of each place. Next you know the site is indexed in the SE’s, it’s driving 25 visits a day and making a $1/day for you on some adsense ads. You can build a cool network of sites that can be very beneficial for further SEO efforts also.

    rhythm the same.

Anyway, when you have your own business, of course your creative juice keeps flowing 7/24/366

Looks like a great spot for a vacation and best of all another geo added to your portfolio.

    Have a safe trip

  4. Nice catch!

I also can’t stop thinking about domains when traveling. Other places, businesses, magazines and newspaper are inspirational and sometimes bring up an idea for a new domain or website.

    Enjoy your holiday

  5. El,

I am so happy you’re enjoying your Luxembourg trip, and there’s more to come. However, the #4 photo of you sitting in the chair made me worry, my friend.

You’re probably not at 35 yrs old yet, but that bald spot, and the basic aging signs are evident. My advice, please take your vitamins, and drink more scotch to keep your body healthy…

Your hair will grow back if you do what I’m doing right now. NOT CUTTING IT.

Once your hair is past your shoulders, not only will people step out of your way, you’ll get a lot of offers to join deadly motorcycle gangs (a tattoo saying “1%” will assist in this area).

Nobody will mess with you. Grow those beautiful dark brown locks long, get a few tattoos, be sure to put your wife’s name on your bicep, and then your top domain on the back of your right wrist: “BURBANK.COM”.

I guarantee this will raise your visitors to Burbank.com about 300 more a month. Each and every month. That tattoo would be a great investment which shouldn’t cost more than $120.

The sick part of this, I grew up in the Burbank area, (joked around with Ron Howard – “Opie” and now killer movie producer, who went to Burroughs HS, and is my same age).

Because of this, you’ve sucked me into your domain world, so everytime I hear from friends from Burbank or news from that area, I always THINK OF YOU FIRST. Good grief. I’ve actually cemented the name “Elliot Silver” with “Burbank”. It’s actually quite demented, so you better make this domain payoff for both of us. I don’t think I’d be able to handle it unless I knew your domain sold for upper six figures or more. I mean, having to see your face in my mind every time I heard or read the word “Burbank”? Come on… it has to mean something for us…you make the money, and I feel that all those dang images of your face when I heard “burbank” were worth it.

However, I know I can get you back.

I KNOW THAT EVERY TIME YOU SEE A REDHEAD, YOU’LL THINK OF STEPHEN DOUGLAS. lol… and there’s A LOT of redheads over there. So when you wake up and read this, and then start your day, you’ll begin noticing REDHEADS of all kinds. Pretty young REDHEAD girls, little REDHEAD kids hyperactively running around, a REDHEAD guy who is shy, and REDHEAD women who confidently appear, and although their hair is like a lighthouse beacon, they will sit and enjoy themselves at the cafes, or walk with their friends, tossing their RED HAIR as if they’re throwing hot coals over their shoulders.

I GUARANTEE YOU AFTER YOU READ THIS, YOU WILL START COUNTING THE REDHEADS YOU SEE ON YOUR TRIP. šŸ˜‰

(It’s already etched itself into your brain now to look for redheads.) In fact, you’ll start taking pics of redheads you see, every one of them.

Sorry to have done this to you, my good buddy. But you are in the perfect spot for seeing the heirs of powerful Vikings from just a mere 1000 years ago. Those are my people, and if historical records are correct, they are connected to you too. (we’ll talk about that privately).

    Cheers bro!

    Come home safe.

  6. El, of course I know that’s not you… You’re much more elegant sitting in a chair, and I know you have your hair!

However, you WILL be looking at redheads all day, each day, and you’ll start getting obsessed about the different shades of redhair, the lengths, whether it’s curly, wavy, straight, short, long.

You’re going to be weirdly attracted to shooting photos of redheads.

I can’t wait to see your “REDHEAD PEOPLE PORTFOLIO” when you get back home.

  7. The Jardin du Luxembourg (Garden of Luxembourg) is not in Luxembourg, but in Paris close to the Palais du Luxembourg which is the French Senate.

Of course some of us can’t stop domaing night and day with no day off and this domain like every domain we register brings the same questions : should you register that name or here rather the IDN jardinduluxembourg.fr ? Who would buy this domain, before I have to pay again to renew it ? The Paris Town Hall has its own website and may not be willing before long to create a website for every garden or park. Should I register lejardinduluxembourg or jardinduluxembourg or maybe even Lesjardinsduluxembourg, not so easy to say even if you are not a foreigner. What is this domain worth ? Will it bring me paid clicks before someone possibly buys it ?
One of you said it : let’s take our vitamins and let’s go for a sleep our brain and our pure need it !

  9. Stephen, Good point.

Elliott, if you find a way to turn your brain off for a little while without drugs let me know.

On the other hand, domaining on the Internet is so much fun I can’t believe it is called work.

  10. Hi Elliot

I noticed the bald patch also and thought that you where going bald at such a you age maybe it was due to the stress of writing your daily post as I read it every day.

Hope you have great holiday from all people in Scotland

  11. First of all, I would say “BALD IS BEAUTIFUL” even when red around.

About our mind, the problem is not that we can’t stop thinking about domains, but that we CAN’T QUIT, can’t quit, can’t quit, kantkwit, kantkwit.com kantkwit.net kantkwit.org
