Eliot's Story on Oprah: 99 Balloons | 99 Days

I really like Google for many reasons. Not only do they have some fantastic applications that I use on a regular basis, they also help people find my blog. There are many search phrases where I rank pretty high in Google, including “Elliot’s Blog” and I’d like to think most people who search for Elliot’s Blog are looking for me.
Today, I noticed a large spike in traffic from Google, with many people looking for search variations including “baby elliot’s blog,” “elliot on oprah,” “baby elliot’s journal,” and others that were similar. Curious, I went to find out what people wanted, since Google was clearly sending people to the wrong site. I found that people were looking for something featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show today, “99 Days with Eliot.”
I found the Baby Eliot “99 Balloons” video, so instead of sending people on a wild goose chase to find it on Google, I embedded it above. It’s a tearjerker and quite a story.

  1. Dear Eliot,
You are an inspiration. I saw your video for the first time today and it really put things in perspective. Even though your life was short, it seems your brought more joy to the world than others who live to be 99 years old.
    -Glen

  2. Heh, I guess some people don’t realize your site is not the actual site they seek (the guy above me)…
Anyhow, it’s nice to see you do this for everyone seeking the original Oprah story. Kudos!

  3. This made me sob, the sweetness of his parents and the love they shared for their Son but not giving up on him, and always having faith in God. What a beautiful story. My Son is the light of my life and I am grateful to him each and every day of his life, he’ll be 11 months old on Nov. 1st and I have never found more joy or felt more blessed in my life since he came to us. My heart beams with emotion for Eliot’s Mom and Dad and I am thrilled they are expeting, they are amazing people, bright, beautiful parents.
    God bless.

  4. Thoe I am only sixteen I fell very understanding about the story I have just heared. And thoe I have never experienced anything close to this even thoe I lost my father due to a heartatack and I know what is like to loose a loved one.May your family and you child rest in peace.

  5. My neice Macy, also had Trisomy 18 and we only had her for 8 days. She was so precious to us. She was the first grandchild, my brother’s first baby and we still love her very much. The kind of pain you go through losing a child can not be put into words. We thank God for giving her to us for those 8 days. Since then my brother has been blessed with twins, Ava and Kylie. We still put up a Christmas stocking for little Macy every year along with the twins stockings. My heart goes out to this young couple as we know exactly what they went through.

  6. Thank you so much for posting this video. My daughter has Trisomy 18 and is now 88 days old. This video made myself and my mom cry uncontrolably. You posting this lets others be informed, and lets people like myself know that we’re not alone.

  7. i am a mother of 3 amazing children .. i just wanted to let you know that this is an awesome life line for this one lil amazing boy .. it is truly amazing how much love one child can bring you with only such a short time to be here… god bless you and keep you in his hands forever

  8. THank you. My son Leonidas died 2 hours after birth, of trisomy 18 a year ago. Although I have since been blessed with a newborn daughter. I think of my little “lion” everyday.

  10. Sometimes I hate this world so mutch, I wished it would fall apart right away due to unfairness like this…
But than again…, seeing how beautiful love can be and how it can make even the darkest of hours shine like gold, it makes me think about my statement above more than twice.
It’s the main reason our world sould continue spinning…
And for finally making me come to peace with this conclusion, I’d like to thank you Elliot.
    Yours sincerely,
    Faith.

  11. Dear Elliot:
My name is Luís, I’m 35 and I’m from Portugal, Europe.
I saw yesterday Eliot’s story on Oprah.
    I ‘m a layer and I have 5 children.
When I saw Eliot’s baby story I thought who lucky Eliot was (is) on having such parents.
I know he is with Jesus, and that is a big consolation to parents.
Congratulations for your testemony and I hope you both continue being so happy and strong.
    Best regards

  12. Dear Eliot Harman Mooney,
I just wanted to say to you that you are beautiful, and your story has changed me forever.
The love and strength you and your parents have is something to be cherished and proud of.
While you are only separated by the time each has left in this world, know that you will be remembered with love every day until that time.
While a parent should never have to bury their child, I can hear in your fathers voice that he would not change a moment of your life if he had a chance.
Thank you for the special gift you gave us all Eliot.

  15. Dear Eliot,
I saw you today on Oprah and I want to tell you what wonderful parents you chose to bring you into this world for 99 days.
I also want to tell you to look for another trisomy 18 Angel named Jacqueline Lee. She is my niece and she was born on June 11, 1999 and went to be with God on July 28, 1999.
We love and miss her very much, and now my heart grieves a little less knowing she has you to keep her for us until it’s our time to be together again…
    I love you Eliot.
    Jackie’s Aunt Jay

  16. Dear Eliot,
I saw your video on Oprah today. My, you were so very handsome. I know your Momma & Daddy absolutely adore you…we all do! Say hello to Lauri-she had cyctic fibrosis so long ago, in a time when all children died from it. I wondered for nearly 50 years if she was alone & now I know she isn’t. Say hello to my little boy who came so very early, we barely had time to know he would be a little boy. He was as loved and wanted, just as you were. Stay safe & we will all be together and have picnics & fly kites and splash in the water……..

  17. Dear Elliot, may god be with you from heaven above you lived for 99 days that’s a lot for you like a little boy like you you were luck for your mom and dad and they celebrated just for you that’s a very nice think they did for you again let god be with you forever.
    love,
    Gracie

  22. The Lord has allowed me to go through many trying times in my life…some I chose to go through, some He chose for me. What I have learned through it all is that maybe what I have experienced is not about me, but how I can use what I have learned to help someone else. You have to know that your experience with Eliot has touched many lives and will continue to forever. I am so thankful you acknowledged the Lord through all of your heartache and He will bless you more than you can ever imagine. Thank you for your story. And thank you for letting us all have a chance to get to know Eliot.
    Greg

  23. THANKS SO MUCH TO ELLIOTS PARENTS (AND UNCLE) FOR SHARING YOUR LIFE WITH US—- THAT WAS SUCH A JESUS THING TO DO! LITTLE DID YOU KNOW HOW THE LORD WAS ABOUT TO USE YOU ALL (FOR THE WHOLE WORLD!). THANK YOU FOR BEING OPEN TO IT. YOU NOT ONLY GAVE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE TO LITTLE ELLIOT, BUT TO US OUT HERE – WHOM YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW! I SAW ELLIOT WHEN THE VIDIO WAS FIRST POSTED AND IT CHANGED MY LIFE THEN. THIS TIME AFTER SEEING IT ON TBN AND THEN OPRAH- I DECIDED TO WRITE “ELLIOT” ACROSS EVERY PAGE OF MY CALENDAR AS A REMINDER THAT EVERY ONE I COME IN CONTACT WITH IS AS LITTLE ELLIOT- NEEDLESS TO SAY- MY LIFE HAS CHANGED DRAMATICALLY. I NEEDED THE NUDGE, I NEEDED THE PUSH – TO REMEMBER HOW PRECIOUS EVERYONE IS, ESPECIALLY FAMILY! GOD BLESS YOU FOREVER —-SUE B.

  24. Hello, I am 16 years old. I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. Elliot was not just a child, he was truly a gift from God. Your story has been truly a large part of my life. Elliot’s story has taught me that everyday is truly a gift, you never know when God will choose to take you, and the question is “Will you be ready?” God has truly blessed you with Elliot and even though he is not with us today, he is waiting for you up in heaven and he will be there when you get there. I can’t say I know how you feel because I do not, but I do know that the pain you feel is overwhelming. The reward the world gives is no match as to what it can take away. I want you to know that God has truly used you in a way that is unimaginable. May God bless you and be with you forever more.

  25. Dear Eliot,
Your story is amazing. I hope you are having a wonderful time in heaven. God bless your family. I know you are watching over them.

  26. I just watched the story of Elliot on TODAY SHOW and was so touched and intrigued. My son Alexander passed away at age 11 months. When he was first born the doctors told us he had Trisomy 18 but they weren’t 100% sure. When I saw Elliot he resembled my Alex so much. We were fortunate to have Alex with us for 11 months and was also fed through a feeding tube and struggled to survive each day. We miss him so much and cherish each day we had with him.

  27. Dear Eliot,
you’re video brought me to tears. i myself am a 16 year old girl and i take what i do have in life for granted. seeing you’re film for the first time really puts the world into perspectve. you were a strong little man who deserved all the happiness and love you got in your short life, youre father was extremely proud as is the rest of the world after seeing your short life.
you’re parents are an inspiration to the world. well done and rest in peace little man.
-to your parents, you inspire me more than any celebrity. you are the real heros of this world.

  28. dear Elliot,
i watch ur video today. u are a brave baby to be able to survice for 99 days. Being bless to have such a great parents. this story is really inspiration for all parents in the world.

  29. The day this show aired I sat and watched crying, heart filled for his parents. I began to pray over my own son and asked to Lord to give my son the gifts of life baby Elliott did not have. Two months later exactly my son had a seizure that lasted 16 minutes, he was nine months old. They said he would out grow them, they’re febrile seizures. He’s eight years old and has had 22 seizures. Today he seen his neurologist and they diagnosed him with epilepsy. Seeing the kids today me and my son know he is blessed. I’ve always said Baby Elliott was my sons Guardian Angel but today I realized Baby Elliott has been my strength. My son is loud and can’t keep still. I’m sorry for the loss you suffered as parents. I pray your lives are blessed for sharing your son with us because together you created an Angel for my son.
