Poll: How Did You do in 2013?

With the year coming to a close, I wanted to see if you’d be willing to share how you did with your domain name investments this year as compared to prior years. No need to share revenue or income numbers of course, but I am curious to see how 2013 compared to other years for domain investors.

The poll to vote is below, and you are also welcome to provide additional commentary in the comment section if you’d like. I hope you had a great 2013. If not, I hope this past year provided some good lessons that can help propel your business forward in 2014.

  1. Elliot,

We had a great year in terms of launching our new site ScreenProtectors.co.uk – Took a bit of work and its still not perfect but we are growing Page Rank and links and sales are going well.

In terms of Domain Name Sales, I have closed several that are NDA and completed some amazing Six Figure deals for clients on my brokerage division all dot coms.

The drops have been kind to me also picking up several great dot com and my local cctld .co.uk

I hope 2013 was a good year for you and your family.

Only change I need to make is better and more consistent writing on RobbiesBlog.com…

Lets hope 2014 continues to be as good as 2013!

I hope you and all the domaining community have a very prosperous 2014 and here’s to our future success!

  2. In terms of numbers, nothing beats 2008, but 2013 was the best year since.

A big thanks to Domain Name Sales, Escrow.com, and to the great people in the domain industry that stick to their guns. If you carried on with business despite the white noise that was sprayed your way, congratulations – you are a winner.

In 2014, those that keep an open mind will prevail over those that use constant negativity in an effort to compensate about their lack of vision.

Lastly, NamesCon will help reshape the domain industry and bring along a wide spectrum of new products and relationships. This isn’t the time to sit on one’s laurels, it’s the time to grab the proverbial bull by the horns.

    Happy New Year to all.

  3. Once again ‘BullS” is nominated the website of the Year- 8 years in the row.
I want to thank(tears rolling on my cheek) my parents, my producers, agents, handlers, my significant others, and others for making “BullS’ the award winning website.

2013- an excellent $$$$$ in the market and more to come.

Thanks and have a good BS day

  4. Sold 9 domains this year for $254,975.

5 of the 9 were hand-reg`s, the other 4 were bought on Godaddy drop auctions back in 2009 (most paid by me was $1,200).

    I`m pleased with the results.

  5. Best sales year ever, emphasis on .com’s… 90% of sales done via escrow, so not reported… I did see prices being paid in aftermarket increase by quite a margin, many reaching to what end users are willing to pay in some cases, have to do a headshake on some newbie inventory choices… after many years it get’s easier to know what names sell, and which don’t… I also got a lot more spam for domain related sales…Was able to sell some subpar names, and use the funds to secure stronger names… I like to replace inventory…Watch out M.B. might come call your poll results BS… Happy New Year!

  6. Honestly I’ve had far more success with my other business ventures than I have with domain sales, 2012 was my record breaking year, 2013 was not so great, I think I sold only 8 domains the whole year… Considering putting my entire portfolio up for sale this year and hopefully cash out.
