Lda Asked and DNS Shared

In the lead up to NamesCon, I wrote an article about a question and answer panel led by Jeff Gabriel, Vice President of Sales at DomainNameSales.com. A reader with the “Lda” moniker commented, asking Jeff to share some examples of his sales to prove his expertise:

“However, to front a panel titled ‘… selling YOUR domains’ with no obvious public track record of named sales (inform me if this is incorrect), my trust in Jeff’s ‘expertise’ is clearly less than yours.

I’m simply inviting him to convince me that he’s worthy of the title ‘expert’ by releasing the names of domains he has brokered, that don’t have NDAs.”

If you visit DN Journal this afternoon, it looks like DomainNameSales.com and Jeff Gabriel have shared quite a few sales that the company helped to close in the past 8 months. Historical Whois searches using DomainTools reveal that the reported sales are a mix of in-house sales and sales of domain names owned by DNS clients.

According to Ron, over 1,500 previously unreported sales were shared. 18 of the reported sales were in the 6 figure range. Those 18 sales alone totaled over $4 million. I presume the company has many more private sales that can’t be disclosed, so this is likely just a peak at the sales total.

In looking at the prices of the sales published on DNJ, specifically the 354 five figure sales that were reported, it looks like there were a considerable number of sales that I would consider excellent. There were also a few that look like good deals, although the market for numerics and two letter domains has become more robust of late.

All in all, it looks like DNS is closing deals at a solid clip, even without private sales reported.

    The list will no doubt be reflected soon in resources such the IDNX.com graphs etc., helping all of us significantly with our marketing narratives.

  2. Anyone catch that clearcare.com sale via DNS, that is the UDRP they won against that contact lens company who is a little to UDRP happy via that attorney out of VA, and looks like justice was served.

  3. Do we know how many of those sales were handled by their brokers and how many were done by the owners of the names?
    A lot of those sales looked good.
    A lot of end user buyers I noticed as well $10K and up range

      We did not include self brokered sales in this report. These sales were only completed by our Brokers.

      On another note…I unfortunately did not see the comment posted about proving my expertise, but I would hope that those who did attend the panel that Elliot wrote about got something from it. It seemed as if the audience was engaged, and enjoyed it. I know we did.

      Would be interesting to see the data sold by owners direct (or the % breakdown broker sales vs owner sales) as well
      I imagine the one’s handled by the your brokers are higher priced and the majority of the sales at DNS
