List What You Want to Buy

It’s Sunday fun day, so let’s try something that could be fun and could easily be  disastrous! Just about all of us are looking to buy certain types of domain names and others are looking to sell them. Let’s see if we can match some buyers to sellers.

For buyers:

I invite you to post a comment with a type of domain name you are in the market to buy should something be available. Be very specific because people tend to throw names out there they hope will match but clearly don’t.

Set your parameters clearly. For example, you can ask for things like 3 letter .com domain names that don’t have the letter Z and are for sale for $4,000 or less. The more specific you are, the more likely you are to get matching domain names.

For Sellers:

I invite you to reply to these wanted comments with your matching domain name and price as well as a way to contact you. I only ask that you reply to specific posts rather than submitting comments so that we can track what comment you are replying to.

If I notice something that either clearly doesn’t match what the buyer is looking to buy or isn’t a reply to a specific comment, I will probably delete it.

Keep a few things in mind:

  • I will not be involved in any transactions unless I personally buy or sell a domain name
  • I will not accept any commission as a result of a sale
  • I am not verifying any domain names that are listed for sale
  • I will not intervene on any transactions that have problems or fall through
  • Do your due diligence when buying and/or selling a domain name

  4. This is what I am looking to buy:

    – US City RealEstate.com (ie ChicagoRealEstate.com)
    – No hyphens
    – population of 30,000 or greater
    – home values of $350,000 or greater according to Trulia or Zillow
    – 10 years of age or older

    • Seems like this is another post to generate traffic. Most domain investors want a great deal. The lower tier investors wants to make domain sales.

It would be shocking to see a person actually list a GEO real estate name that is 10 years old and with above 30,000 people.

It’s easy to find a GEO real estate name. However, can you get the price you want? GrandJunctionRealEstate.com is for sale. Just type in the address. GJCo is Western Colorado’s largest city (58,000 pop). Since a real estate company is selling this domain, you probably won’t get a good price.

Adding the $350,000 average home price in the mix makes your request complicated. GJCo homes are only $160,000. What GEO city has greater than 30,000 pop, is a 10 year old domain, and with a $350,000 average home price?

NapaRealEstate dot com falls into that request. Who is going to sell their 10-year old GEO real estate domain with high home prices and with a population greater than 30,000. Let us know when that happens. Zillow is a good tool to find these average home prices above 350,000.

You mentioned that any domain before 2004 is worth buying. WIll the owner want to sell the domain at your price?

This post, like others about listing domains for sale or making requests, seem like traffic generators. The most comments come from these types of posts. You probably know the type of GEO real estate domains you want. It is easy to research these domain names. Most are developed real estate agent websites.

    • I own several and have sold several. Obviously people are willing to sell them.

And yeah, I write blog posts for traffic. This is a business and traffic is what gets advertisers to continue paying, which in turn gets me to deal with annoying people like you once in a while. If you don’t like posts like these you don’t have to visit or comment.

    • Hello Elliot,

      Re: US Real Estate:

      Hello,
      I have
      usaandcanadarealty.com

      plus a few International realty.
      e.g.
      cannesrealty.com
      euandukrealty.com

      $5250 each

      many thanks,

    • Glad to see you haven’t changed your approach in the last three years. Always quick to pull the trigger and fire off like your the Domain King.

I forget; Rick is the Domain King. Sometimes I enjoy reading your domain blog, and then there are times when I question how anyone learns to buy and sell domain names here.

I give you credit though, as you come up with daily material to inform your readers. It is not that hard to do, but it can get boring with seeing people list their domains and not seeing anyone get results.

There are a few of your readers that haven’t learned what is considered good domain name yet. I don’t blame them because they are learning from one of the best domain investors. I would rather be annoying than to think someone visiting your blog will buy one of your $25K names and or list something you like.

How many times has a domain investor listed a name you like on this blog after you produced an article about listing your domain names? Lets go back 3 years and see how many names you wanted? Not many, if any at all.

I know how to locate good names without trying. There are many good names in auctions that people overlook. From time to time, I check out your blog to see what is going on in the domain world.

Traffic does translate into revenue. You know that best. Sponsors will pay to get good leads. It’s not your fault that not all domain investors learn the domain game. You do your best to inform them. It is up to them to apply the knowledge.

Keep up the good work. At least some people are learning a lot.
