Make Your TRAFFIC Appointments Now

I’ve generally been under the assumption that most people who attend a domain conference like TRAFFIC basically wing it when it comes to meetings. Most of my meetings with friends and colleagues are unplanned, and they generally take place randomly during the conference.

In the last week or so, I’ve received a number of emails from colleagues asking to make meeting appointments with them. It’s a good idea to set up meeting times, since I almost always go home realizing that I didn’t get a chance to speak with someone I wanted to see, and had I made an appointment, it would have been more difficult to miss.

If there’s someone you want to meet at TRAFFIC in Ft Lauderdale, don’t take the chance that they will be too busy. Send them an email to request a meeting, and it’s likely that they will make some time for you. It’s also key to get their cell phone number in case you or they get held up and are running late.

I don’t know if TRAFFIC shows are getting more formal with people setting up meetings well in advance, but since it seems to be happening more regularly, it’s a good idea to set up a meeting with the people you really need to see (like your parking or registrar account management team).

With the conference less than a week away, now is a good time to make your appointments.

  1. By all means arrange meetings in advance, but don’t underestimate the spur of the moment, “hi, how are you” intros, that can lead to valuable conversations and exchanges. 🙂
