MicroStrategy: Nice Domain Strategy

I happened to come across a domain name owned by a company called MicroStrategy, Inc. On the home page, there was a note about the company, and below that, there was a message that said, “Please contact [email]@microstrategy.com for domain availability inquires.” With a note like that, I assumed the company owned additional domain names, and I was correct.

I grabbed the sentence from the home page and searched for it in Google using quotes around the term to get the exact match results. There were quite a few great domain names / websites listed. Among the company’s domain names I found:

  • Hope.com
  • Mike.com
  • William.com
  • Glory.com
  • iDream.com
  • Frank.com
I then did a Google site search of DomainTools and found even more great domain names that appear to be owned by the company:
  • Alert.com
  • Speaker.com
  • Emma.com
  • Voice.com
  • Strategy.com
  • Wisdom.com

On the landing page, MicroStrategy is described as “a global leader in Business Intelligence.” The company also seems to be quite a leader when it comes to its domain strategy.

  1. Wow, quite the warchest of domains MicroStrategy has there. I wonder how many other under-the-radar companies are silently sitting on goldmines like this.

I’ve always marveled at the collection owned by the guy who has italy.com, fiji.com, getaway.com, etc. Now that is a fine collection of names if I’ve ever seen one.

  2. They are publicly traded – MSTR
Their 10K or 10Q’s don’t break down the names individually or even mention them.
Their latest 10Q talks about a subsidiary named Angel.com
Not many shares outstanding. No Debt. Around a Billion in marketcap.
    Looks to be a Beast.
@Elliot – were you able to see all the names they own?
May be worth reading their 10K and latest 10Q when you get sometime.
I don’t own any, but I’ve watched it over the years
    Currently at $108

  3. Located near my office in Tysons Corner, VA. Microstrategy was a high flyer in the late 90s. Cooled off, but still a big player. If you go to Tysons Corner Center, large mall outside DC, you will pass Microstrategy’s building that is connected to the mall
