Monsanto Buys Channel.com

A little over ten days ago, Sedo sold Channel.com for $125,000, as first reported by Hybrid Domainer and then by Mike Berkens on TheDomains.com. There was some speculation about who bought Channel.com, but it doesn’t look like anyone guessed the buyer correctly.

I received a domain monitor alert from DomainTools this morning informing me that a Whois change had taken place on Channel.com. The domain name appears to have been acquired by Monsanto, a publicly traded agriculture and seed company trading on the New York Stock exchange under the symbol MON.

Monsanto operates a brand called Channel, and according to the Monsanto website, “Channel ® is a premier seed brand specializing in corn, soybean, sorghum and alfalfa. Channel offers high performing genetics that are sourced globally, tested locally and supported year-round by a team of Channel Seedsmen who walk their customers’ fields and learn their challenges.

This seems like a wise acquisition for the company, especially since it’s a nice upgrade from its current url,  ChannelBio.com.

  1. Not to change the subject but if there ever was a definition of evil, Monsanto would have to be mentioned as a footnote.

IMO, the destruction of farmers in the U.S. and throughout the world through seed patents is one of the most disgusting business practices to ever be allowed to be practiced.

I hope Channel.com fails miserably and Monsanto executives and those responsible for their doings burn in Hell, if there is actually a Hell. If not I hope they turn to dust and are never cried over.

Sorry to say that, but I’m pretty passionate about this subject.

Go burn in Hell, Channel.com and Monsanto.com !!!!

  2. Just wondering if an individual actually introduces themself as a seedsman.

    “Hello. I’m Jerry, I’m a seedsman.”

Wasn’t John Holmes a bit of a seedsman too?

  3. yup, Monsanto is a huge company and definitely controversial. But I’m sure some of their products also help grow food in places that would normally be too dry or nutrient poor for regular seed, which must help poorer countries. But like i said, it’s a touchy topic.

  4. Charles Christopher – yes, Vandana Shiva is an Earth hero.

And she always explains quite clearly why Monsanto and other GM companies are threats to everyone of us and indeed the existence of life on this planet.

Domainers need to understand that we are not islands, we are all connected.

Congratulations Charles, you are brilliant for putting Vandana Shiva on here.

Thousands of Indian farmers would say otherwise, if they hadn’t committed suicide

The GM genocide: Thousands of Indian farmers are committing suicide after using genetically modified crops

“So Shankara became one of an estimated 125,000 farmers to take their own life as a result of the ruthless drive to use India as a testing ground for genetically modified crops.

The crisis, branded the ‘GM Genocide’ by campaigners, was highlighted recently when Prince Charles claimed that the issue of GM had become a ‘global moral question’ – and the time had come to end its unstoppable march.”
