Name Administration Testing Out Domain Sale Landing Pages

You’re probably familiar with the traditional Internet Traffic landing page. If you aren’t, see FrozenBananas.com as an example. You’re also probably familiar with the Domain Name Sales inquiry page that a visitor lands on when they click the link at the top of domain names that are listed for sale.

It appears that either Frank Schilling’s domain portfolio company (Name Administration) or Internet Traffic is testing out a for sale landing page that does not  have pay per click links on it. Have a look at the singular FrozenBanana.com, and you’ll see that there are no PPC links on the page, and visitors are taken directly to a form to inquire about the domain name.

Last week, I shared insight about my ideal passive domain sales platform, and it seems that this is a step in that direction. The only things missing on the landing page are: 1) the ability for the buyer to immediately enter into a sale agreement and begin escrow from the landing page and 2) a good sales pitch to close the deal.

I assume that this has been tested for quite some time and wasn’t in response to my article, but it was pretty  serendipitous  to have found it today. I am going to reach out to Jeff Gabriel of Domain Name Sales to see if this is an option for the general public or if Frank is testing it out on select domain names. Personally, I’d rather have a landing page like this on names that earn little revenue because closing a large deal on a domain name would be worth losing out on additional revenue.

  1. Could be for legal reasons as well, many times UDRP’s are won on a single link, when many domains are making little to none ppc income to offset the risk.

Less ammo for thieves, more access for direct end users to pull the trigger on the sale.

    Seems like a win win

  2. I’d be all for that as I make next to nothing on PPC. I have DNS as my broker, so it’s not like they would lose out of a share of my next-to-nothing PPC. I’d much rather point all my domains to the lander rather than PPC links.

  3. A person could just do a redirect of their domain to the sales lander I suppose, since DNS has the forwarding option already built into their system.

Just a heads-up, I have not tried this out.

    • I think you’re right, but for many of us who are lucky to be able to change the DNS, it would be great to have the option to choose a non-monetized lander. I bet that the vast majority of names at DNS earn less than $5 in annual revenue.

  4. This landing page would be an excellent option. I would rather take names that are getting 10 bucks a year and place them on this landing page. I would even pay them 5% to use such a landing page.

  5. When u see John Jones thru John Jones eyes, u will sell John Jones what John Jones buys.

If u are serious about selling at a fair price, then do NOT put PPC Links.

People that have PPC Links to earn revenue are usually NOT that serious about selling and are asking a ridiculous price for their domains.

Pick one – Sell or Earn – don’t do both on a single website page.

    • @ Anunt…

coming for the guy who overpays for domains in heated auctions, and then ends up selling them for half… you are to far gone at this point…

Most people that have ppc links, have their domains parked, and are very serious about selling…

  6. I do like the clean “for sale” lander but if someone is seriously interested to buy the domain, they will click on the “this domain may be for sale” link at the top of Frank’s landers.

FYI, I found this lander the other day at http://rhodeislandtours.com

(I am not affiliated with the owner or company or anything else there)

Just thought you might like to see a, well thought out, independent lander.

  7. To add to your example Rob, I like AlabamaHearing.com as an example of a great lander. (Not my domain)

No idea how well it converts though. I’d sure like to try it out.
