Name.com Introduces Referral Program and Curated Search

I want to share an update from Name.com that will likely be of interest to their customers.

The company is bringing back its referral program that provides financial incentives for customers to get people they know to use Name.com products and services. I don’t have many names registered with Name.com, but the company offers a wide array of products that are easy to use. They have also been helpful to me on at least two occasions when I bought names registered there. It’s always nice to be able to refer friends to use a company that you like to use (as opposed to simply doing it for financial reasons).

Name.com also introduced a new “curated search” functionality that “simplifies the process of creating a personal website.” I have not tried it out, so I can’t really comment on it, but you can read more in the update below. They also wrote a blog post about the new functionality.

Here are the updates that Name.com’s  Allison Chowdhury shared with me:

Referral program

Due to popular demand, we’ve brought back our referral program to reward Name.com customers who suggest us to their friends or colleagues.

  • Customers can log into their accounts and use the Rewards Dashboard to sign up for the program.
  • They’ll get a custom referral link that they can share via email, social media, or URL.
  • New referred customer will receive $5 in Bearglecoin (our own Name.com currency) and the referrer will receive $5 as well.
  • You can see the full details in this blog post.

Curated search

We’ve also created a new search function that simplifies the process of creating a personal website.

  • Type a first name-last name search into Name.com‘s main search page and you’ll get the option to enter the custom search experience.
  • There, you can browse domain options by categories that can be opted in and out of.
  • This is a great way to explore new domain options for personal websites and find an alternative if the URL you want is already taken.
  • You can see the full details in this blog post.
