No More LLLL.xyz Domains Available to Register

Earlier this evening, .XYZ registry CEO Daniel Negari reported that there were “[o]nly 3 LLLL .xyz domains still available for registration.”

It looks like those three LLLL.xyz domain names have now been registered, although I am not sure how many LLLL.xyz domain names are held by the regstry.

According to the “Premium Names” page within the .XYZ registry website, there are “0 Available out of 456,976” LLLL.xyz domain names.

My guess is that there are three reasons for why so many 4 letter .xyz domain names have been registered in such a short period of time:

1) Chinese domain investor demand
2) Interest in the .xyz extension that was brought on by Alphabet (Google’s parent company) using ABC.xyz
3) Low priced registrations

Whatever the reason, this is a pretty impressive feat. Nearly half a million 4 letter .xyz domain names have been sold. According to nTLDStats.com, there are over 2.3 million registered .XYZ domain names. .XYZ is the new gTLD extension with the most domain names registered, and it has a pretty wide margin above the second largest new gTLD registry, .Top.

I don’t know how much aftermarket value LLLL.xyz domain names have (or will have in the future), but it’s interesting to witness.

  1. One day we will all look back on this time period as the big Chinese mania like the late 90’s dotcom bubble (stocks not domains). Meanwhile, I just took possession of what I think is a 7-figure one word household term dotcom for low 5-figures. So far 2016 has been a gift from the heavens.

  2. .xyz is definitely becoming more popular but I see it through a different sense. Many tools, generators, etc. are now trying to add .xyz functionality. For example, http://flamedomain.com is about to launch generations for majors ngTLDs and .xyz is on their list

  3. Behind .top is .club. That is the sleeping giant. It doesn’t matter any longer what extension it is. They will never use these names. They are like commodities to the Chinese. Each ext. is liking buying stock in startup companies. I would beg, borrow and steal to renew all names that are 4-characters and under for the next 2-years. if you o that, you will be frigen wealthy.
