Optimize Your Parked Pages Before Cyber Monday

Cyber Monday is one of the busiest online shopping days of the entire year, and Cyber Monday is coming up in a couple of days on December 1st. With so much shopping done online, I presume many of us will see an uptick in traffic to our parked page, and hopefully an increase in PPC earnings as well.

Before Cyber Monday, domain investors should spend some time ensuring that our landing pages are optimized to maximize the PPC revenue generated and that the domain names are actually in the correct accounts.

Today and tomorrow, I am going to have a look at the performance of some of my parked domain names to see if I might be able to earn incremental revenue by optimizing the landing pages. For example, WineFurniture.com, a domain name my company owns and parks at DomainNameSales.com, should show furniture and or wine cellar advertising links as opposed to alcohol sales (if that is even an option).

Most parking companies have complex algorithms to ensure that the landing pages are displaying relevant links. There have been times that I have noticed unrelated PPC links showing, and when that happens, I presume the click through rate is lower than it could be if optimized.

In addition to the necessary optimizations, it is also important to ensure that my domain names were added to my parking account and that the DNS was changed so that they are resolving correctly. This might seem obvious, but last year, I noticed a domain name was earning a couple of dollars a month, and I remembered that I had sold the domain name via auction several months prior. This process is a bit more tedious for many people, but it may actually be more important than optimizations.

With Cyber Monday being such an important day for most online retailers, it’s critical that domain investors have everything optimized, too. I usually check on this at the end of the year, but now may be as good of a time as any. One additional tip that may be helpful is that if you notice underperforming domain names in your parking account, you may wish to contact your parking company account manager or their customer service team to see if they can make some changes for you.

  1. Have you tried any amazon affiliate stuff for a name like this?

I checked your name here in Ireland and there are basically lots of furniture stores showing.

I would say the wine furniture is there, but it would require some digging by your lead.

I moved any names I own with even a hint of e-commerce to amazon around a week ago.

Example: http://www.coolshelves.com. Granted, small traffic, but this just feels better, not least being able to link to it.

  2. Hi Elliot,

It would be interesting to know if going to a direct sales form on DNS rather than parking would be an advantage.

While you may make a few bucks of parking revenue, I would guess that a few potential sales leads may not click through.

    Your thoughts?

  3. With quite a few parking platforms allowing for domain name optimization with your own keywords, rather than waiting for them to optimize it, it should turn out to be an interesting Cyber Monday if investors are putting the time in to target their audience.

For me, parking revenue has been its highest in November. I am eagerly waiting to see if I can have the largest revenue day than ever before on the 1st with the generics that I do have. This is because every domain has keywords set and are auto-optimized as well.

These aren’t only good tips to follow for just Cyber Monday.

A few extra seconds to optimize your pages while adding them can result in dollars instead of cents over the year if you’re into parking.

    • Hi David-I own some domains regarding “Singles Day” or “Double11 Day” in China as it’s known-as you probably know Alibaba did $9Billion in sales in one day on Nov.11th-so i’ll be gearing up for next Singles Day-will the same apply as it did to Cyber Monday re parking etc ? Thank you-John
