7

The domain name Outreach.org is currently at auction on Namejet. There are 109 bidders in the auction and a total of 148 bids. The domain name was originally registered in 1995, and it was last owned by ElderWeb Project at Grant MacEwan University. It recently expired.

The current high bid for this domain name is $65,100 with just under 5 minutes to go. There have been two active bidders above the $10,000 mark.

As with all NameJet auctions, when a bid is placed, the time is extended for several minutes, so this auction could conceivable go on for some time.

Update: Now over $80,000… Final price: $90,400

Too bad Namejet doesn’t accept domain submission for auctions.

That was the craziest auction I’ve ever seen on NameJet!!!

I mean Outreach certainly lends itself to the .org extension and there are several clear end-users who are under the “outreach” name.

But what non-profit can cough up $100,000 for a domain name?

I mean listen, I’m all for the value of .org domains – I just sold AutoInsurance.org for almost half a million bucks – but Outreach.org ????

    I must have missed something…

It is funny if this domain had just sat on a parked page, it would never have never got this much action.

I often see how domainers are willing to pay so much more in auction, then just contacting the owner of a domain, or at sedo just on random offers.

    Why is that?

“But what non-profit can cough up $100,000 for a domain name?”

The same ones paying their CEOs a median salary of $150K and advertise in the Economist…

Mike – I thought that was you buying Outreach.org for sure!

I can’t think of anyone else who drop that much on a .org domain on behalf of a charity (that’s a compliment by the way).

its actually a fair retail sales price, which rarely happens at all especially on auction, I buy below retail, but not sure what my hundreds of better orgs, the very best, arent getting offers though, search .orgs by price at http://domainmarket.com/
