Report: Commercial.Property Sold for $25,000

In an email advertising .Pics domain names for $1.00, Uniregistry announced that DomainNameSales.com sold Commercial.property for $25,000. Based on a historical Whois record from DomainTools, it looks like Commercial.property was previously registered to North Sound Names. The .Property domain extension is operated by Uniregistry.

Commercial.property is now registered at GoDaddy, and the Whois record for this domain name has privacy protection. The landing page still shows a default Uniregistry “for sale” landing page, so it is unclear who bought the domain name. At the time of publication, the domain name is listed for sale at Sedo with a buy it now price of $59,999.

This domain name had been on an ICANN collision list and was not available to register until earlier this year. According to a historical Whois record from January, the Whois database stated, “Current ICANN policy prohibits the registration of this domain name at this time because it is subject to a “names collision” report.”

According to nTLDStats.com, there are currently just over 40,000 .Property domain names registered as of today. I would imagine Commercial.property is probably one of the best keyword domain names in the extension.

This sale should become one of the top ten non-.com / non-ccTLD domain sales of the year in the DNJournal sales chart and the largest publicly reported gTLD sale of the year.

  1. This is one of, if not the best, combinations for .Property.

Is $25K the ceiling for a term that represents a true top tier left/right combo?

“North Sound Names” AKA Frank Schilling held back tens of thousands of the best terms in most of their extensions. In .Property over 36K of the less than 40K total regs are registry reserved. That is over 90%.

Congrats on the sale, but it is irrelevant to most domain investors. Is it really worth fighting for the scraps left behind?

    Brad
