Ryan Colby Starts a Blog

Ryan Colby is an experienced domain broker, having spent time at Sedo and now at Domain Holdings where he is SVP of Product Management. Colby has sold millions of dollars worth of domain names, and he is considered by many to be one of the better brokers in the business.

Last month, I shared the news that Ryan started an email newsletter called Domain Aftermarket Insights, and I just learned that he has set up a blog as well, which you can find at RyanColby.com. The website currently  forwards to rjcolby.wordpress.com, but I assume that he will eventually change the destination url.

I think it’s great to see Ryan blogging because I often ask him and other top brokers what they are seeing in the domain market. These guys seem to have as good of a pulse on the industry as just about anyone, and they can offer insight that others can’t. The more information that is shared, the better for all of us.

Andrew Rosener has also been blogging on his Media Options blog of late, and I appreciate reading his insight as well. One thing in particular that I like about Andrew’s blog and hope for the same with Ryan’s blog is that it doesn’t appear to be all that self promotional. There are plenty of companies that have blogs, but many are used to announce new listings, sales, and other company changes. A blog that shares insight is more valuable to me.

There are many blogs that primarily focus on domain names and domain investing. Reading the blogs of Ryan Colby and Andrew Rosener can give you insight that others can’t, especially if you are in the business of selling your domain names. Hopefully both of these brokers will find the time to keep up with their blogs and continue to share insight publicly.
