Sell Your .CO Domain Names Before They Expire

I bought a number of .CO domain names via NameJet / Enom last July, and I started to receive renewal notices for them a few weeks ago. I did a couple of searches, and it appears that a significant number of .CO domain names bear registration dates around July 19 – 20, 2010.

This means that the week of July 18 will be a hugely important week for the .CO Registry. Some companies are offering a .CO coupon code, but they are still relatively expensive compared to other extensions. I believe there are going to be a significant number of dropping / expiring .CO domain names in the next couple of weeks.

I know of a couple people who are interested in buying premium .CO domain names for good prices, and they would rather buy them in private than have to backorder and compete for them, or pay an extra fee for backordering the names.

If you own three letter or three number .CO domain names, or you own other GOOD keyword domain names and would like to sell them instead of renewing them, post them in the comment section below with their prices and way to contact you about buying them. It might also be a good idea to offer a bulk discount. Perhaps you can make a sale or two.

I am on vacation and posting with an iPad, so my apologies for any typos. I also may not be able to approve comments immediately.

(still deciding which names to renew)

  7. Elliot–thanks for this great idea to post the dot co domains.

Loving all these great dot co domains…keep them coming and keep them registering.

Love you dot co suckers owners!!

  8. Hi Troy
Thank for Your comment. Just one thing: would You be so kind as to explain and prove the claim of Yours? (about the wasted money)
    best of luck
    Jacek
ps. the list does not include the names I’ve already sold at decent prices (ex 500USD)
ps2. Perhaps it’d be wise of You to consider some of the domains I’ve listed as a potentially great investment opportunity?

  10. “Thanks for Your comment. Just one thing: would You be so kind as to explain and prove the claim of Yours?”

I think the fact that you are trying to sell over 500 domains before they have to renew proves my point for me. Especially considering some of your .co’s, which I assume you purchased for $30, are available in .com for less than $8.

That is a waste of money in anyone’s book.

“ps. the list does not include the names I’ve already sold at decent prices (ex 500USD)”

Hey, if you have made a profit on your .co purchases then good for you. It’s always better to make it some other suckers problem.

“ps2. Perhaps it’d be wise of You to consider some of the domains I’ve listed as a potentially great investment opportunity?”

    Yeah=) I consider that…

  11. Jacek

Since we’re asking questions I’ll ask one. What is your costs of purchasing these domains plus this years renewals? After your sales are you making money. I am guessing you have $8000 plus a year in renewals. My opinion after looking at your domains is you are gambling, not investing.

  12. I will consider all offers of $500 and over on any of the following domains. Simply email me at: jkim@epier.com if interested.

  14. Hi Shane
Most of them (the domains) I bought for reg GoDaddy price (11,99)
I realize some of them are worthless and will not be renewed for sure. (Some of them are renewed already)
Domaining is just a new hobby of mine ( I do have full time job)
However I will be grateful for Your professional advice and opinion on the potential future value of some of them.
    My email once again: sun_rise@wp.pl
    regards
    Jacek

  15. May I say, you people had an opportunity, because it is @ Elliot’s blog and has wide readership, to unload your LLL.co’s and other keyword dot co’s if you had priced them $50.00 each instead of $500.00 or more each! Just an honest opinion as an outside observer who is not a buyer. The point was, some investors want to save on reservation fees of dropped domains, probably in the $70.00 range.

  16. @Louise

the problem is a single good premium website like

    Pumped.co

    can potentially generate

    $20,000 a year in revenue.

enough to pay for all my 980 .Co domains

Then I just need to generate another

    $20,000 a year on like

    Donors.co

    to turn a profit.

    You get the point.

  17. Bulls

If You’d like to review my entire domain portfolio, You’re welcome to do so, just send me an email at sun_rise@wp.pl. I also have lots of interesting .com’s
    (megaimprovement.com, xxxpaper.com, orgasmMAX.com just to name a few)

I wanna to buy 20,i registered, and the you askme for 10$, that got to me.If you would have ask 50 a piece would have been better for you and me.Any way, that was my thought on that.I said to my self i will pick them up for $15

  19. This thread is a perfect example of why new extensions are genrally scams. These scams take advantage of newbies, who don’t know a good name from their ass.

These are some of the most pitiful names I have EVER seen. It looks like a thread at Dn Forum, which disintegrated into dogshit because they let scammers and garbage extensions run wild for years.

Nobody stood up to the fraudsters who push these pump and dump extensions, and then the inevitable result is that the boards are flooded with sewer waste for years. Even those domainers who know better often dabble in this dogshit, and it generally ruins the domaining game, and makes donmain forums uninhabitable for those with any ounce of decency or respect for themselves.

  20. “Dozens of LLL.CO at $41 each domain!

  22. Let me explain the 2 general approaches of domainers or people starting out in domains.

    There is the STRONG approach.

    and then

    There is the WEAK approach.

the strong approach is taken by Mike Mann and the Frank Schillings of the world

What are they asking, they are asking out of this world kind of numbers, numbers that we think, “NO way that’s not worth $45,000”

but they are the most successful. WHY ? because that one sale pays for everything for the whole year.

then there are the WEAK approach, the ones that start and get scared out of their skin from day one.

These are the few that are selling LLL.Co s for $50 bucks.

It takes balls to go in big my friend.

Why in the world are you selling LLL.CO for $50 bucks when LLL.Co s are worth $15,000 as in BMR.Co

    you get the point.

You decide, learn from the pros.

  23. Robert,

You are using the word “could” when discussion the potential for Pumped.co? Please clarify to me why Pumped.co is valuable at all? What makes it a good candidate for development?

    Pumped.com
    Pumped.net
    Pumped.org
    Pumped.info
    Pumped.us
    Pumped.biz

are all parked domains. Why would you have the idea that in spite of that “pumped” is such a great keyword?

Theoretically any domain can make $20,000 per year if properly developed, but that doesn’t mean I can find a buyer for “ThisDomainCouldMakeTwentyThousandDollarsNextYear.com, even less likely that I could do so for a .co of the same key phrase.

Domainers are such an interesting lot. They scream at a world that in their mind “doesn’t get it” that they are business men and women, but the majority of their actions, statements and arguments go to show that most are, at best, gamblers, and at worst, collectors of rubbish.

Granted, I still think your .co’s are much better than the person that posted the long list above you and can see you getting $500 for a few possibly, but using “this domain could make $20,000 a year” as a justification of value is a loosing proposition in the mind of any intelligent potential buyer.

  24. Godaddy Registered. Paypal, Credit, Debit, Money-Order, Check, and maybe trade.

    • @ Worst / Anonymous Coward

I see plenty of horrible shitty .com and .net names for sale on forums and elsewhere. Its the buyers that have issues picking good names, not the registries who sell them. . Some people know how to find and buy good names and others have no clue. Is Verisign at fault when someone buys a shit .com with hyphens and phrases that make no sense? I don’t think so. There’s plenty of money to be made in this business… Heck, the people who paid $20 for lll.CO domain names can probably make 100% profit in a year by selling now at $40. Most probably either have fantasies of riches or simply can afford to hold out and only sell when they get a solid offer, but if you buy wisely, there’s money to be made.

  25. I have a trifecta in Chicago:

  26. A kind offer indeed, Elliot.

Never have so many paid so much for so little.

Just more evidence that by year’s end, total reg’d .cos will be under 1 million; never to see that number again.

  27. @Robert. I sold my lll.co’s for $50 each because they were speculative registrations to see how the .co Market was doing.

For me, the random lll.co Market is not something I want to get into, so it makes sense selling cheap and putting the money into a good .com.

If .co has a future, it will be in desirable generic keywords. All of which were bought privately before public registration opened.

Also, the idea of this post, if I’m reading it right, is to pass the names onto a .co investor, who doesn’t have to go through the hassle of backordering, auctions etc.

They’re looking for bargains, which you want to get rid of, as you won’t be renewing. Not end user pricing. This is why mine sold in 10 minutes of posting and yours didn’t.

  28. @ Robert

“the problem is a single good premium website like

    Pumped.co

    can potentially generate

    $20,000 a year in revenue.”

    That logic is beyond flawed.

ANY domain can potentially generate $20K a year in revenue.

I could hand register an awful domain and turn it into a site that generates $20K/year with enough effort.

Why would a domain liked Pumped.co have an advantage over any other domain?

    Brad

  29. @James

if you list your home and sells within 10 minutes from the time you list, don’t you think you sold out a little too soon or too low.

    man, have some holding power.

I mean $50 is still a 100% on your registration fee, so it is no chump change, but have some little patience please.

throw aways are going for $95 at least on these auction sites.

  33. @Brad Mugford and @Elliot

you must agree that some domains are worth more because

    they are

easier to remember, more memorable, like the

    LLL s,

    more branding potential.

In fact, for all practical considerations, in the world of domains, it is in fact, this potential of more memorableness and easier to type that makes all the worlds difference

it is why LLL s command $100,000 figure vs. $8 on new ksjeusheoqksd.com registrations

  34. I thought there would be a significant drop of .co domains, having seen just these lists here of mediocre to garbage names I think it will be the biggest first year drop in history!

  35. I meant contribution.co
and instead of globalinvestor.co should be globalinvestors.co

Its late in Europe now and weekend 🙂

  36. @ Aghast

I agree that drop will be huge. Actually everyone says about that.
They will very regret that did not reduce renewal prices.
I am just wondering what bad news do to .CO.

  37. This (a NNN.CO) is actually the only .CO I would be willing to get rid of. I have a group of keyword .COs that I would not consider selling at bargain price, because I think the extension has great potential and we will see that in the next two or three months.

  40. The blood bath has begun judging by seeing signs imo

No offense but these .co investors need to realize what there doing imo.

A good portion of them will 1. Take big losses, 2. Hopefully learn from this, 3. Walk away from domain business all together

Heck I own 5 .co domains. But this is insane and inventory I’m seeing.

  41. @Robert Cline
No wonder you have been spamming every forum pushing .co’s, you went broke on them.

“….can potentially generate $20,000 a year in revenue.”
Or $2 Million…or $20 million. The potential, whatever that means, is there….

99% of .cos are a waste of money, other than for use in Colombia or Colorado (the top, top names)

  42. @ Priv and the other haters.

.co is a great choice for a domain name. I misread this and I have renewed all 75 of my names. I have sold a total of $15,000 worth already so I have made a great profit on these already. It doesn’t matter how many names drop .co will still be strong in the years to come. Now I am off to developing these awesome names. Newstatic.co and Socialite.co are some examples.
    Dave

  43. “Oh. My. God.

    Oh the humanity”

Oh, the end of the world is coming.

    Folks

    keep cool

total for sale on this thread comes out to what ? 4000 domains

    out of 1,100,000 domains

    that’s what .04%

  44. There are probably people who think I’m being facetious if I say that today’s (and tmrw’s) drops are better than almost all these names listed here.
That list of LLL s, Ive seen these before. In other extensions. They are what is left when all the ones that mean anything are gone. They are the ones noone buys unless they are buying all 17,000 for a decade. They are almost all tm with no common generic defence. This isnt nerves of steel investment, this is pie in the sky insanity (imo).

My sincere advice to .co sellers – put BIN prices of 100-200% of what you paid, some will sell, drop the rest. At least that way you’ll get a few $ back instead of losing everything.
This thread evidences the pure waste of tens of thousands of dollars and it is truly shocking to see.
Often when you look down the droplists you wonder who on earth would have regged 99.9% of them in the first place. Now Im beginning to see.

  45. @BullS

Got your email. Sorry I did not respond sooner but I was busy having a life. Here is a list of dot co for you:

    Scottsdale
    NorthScottsdale
    DUI
    LaJolla
AsbestosLawyers, or attorneys, I can’t remember.

These are the dot co I sold along with a dozen LLL. Net PROFIT in the $XX,XXX. I hope to be a bigger sucker next year.
Maybe you should be BullY instead of BullS.

    @OwenFrager
What happened to “LLL or anything you can put on an Epik store are a sure bet.”. That’s a paraphrase of you on TheDomains about dot co last week. Keep pumping Epik…

LLL will have a base of $85 if you read MHB’s post. Drop fee plus reg fee.

My 30 LLL are $65 each. I’ll post the list later for Elliot’s associates.

  46. Man you guys are part of the WAVE OF THE FUTURE!
THESE DOMAINS ARE GUNNA MAKE YOU RICH!

I been flying under the radar for a while, but I started up a new domain blog dat tell da truth on domains!

Stop listening to those suckaz who tell you to buy .com.
We all know .co is where it’s at!

  47. And in case you missed the most important sentence in Ron Jackson’s piece. “Our 5-year goal is to be a significant portion of the fabric of the Internet – with 3 to 5 million active registrations. That may seem small relative to other extensions, but we are focusing our marketing efforts (and our pricing) to target real use – not speculation,” Calle said.

  48. Yikes! I thought I got into it bad with .cm domains, at least I have asseenontv.cm… but this level of investment into .co makes me wanna pass out!

Unfortunately, it seems to be confirmed, .co’s hold little investment value when compared to .com

  49. This entire list for $1,600. It’s only 26 dot co domains.

  52. May I venture a suggestion, @ Robert? Renew a few of your favorite dot cos to build on – I’m sure you withheld them from your list! – and relist them at $35.00 – $50.00 to dissolve your stake for the time being, unless you can afford to renew for years until they catch on better. It’s not that they eventually might not become valuable, it’s that they might not be easy flip anytime soon. Better to dissolve your stake, accept your losses, regroup and move forward!

Epik seems to have some success building out dot co as lead generation with DUILawyers.co. It’s not a lost cause, it’s just that keeping a smaller stake is realistic.

  53. Looking at the .co site, real oompanies are registering 3 letter acronyms of their names or a brand name. Very few generics except for Sweaters.co, an Epik site. A real disconnect between reality and the expectations of the investments being offered here.

Many brands have co attached to their names legally or & co. Example: http://www.deseretnews.com/article/700151896/Icahn-makes-102B-offer-for-Clorox.html?s_cid=rss-14
Note even the broker uses & co

Most of the speculative registrations are not real companies by legal definition. To have legal standing you probably need to file something even if just a fictitious notice in the local paper.

When I invested in CO, I found this information invaluable:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Company

    Good luck. Mark.

btw, when I entered opportunity.co in the Comcast search bar on this PC, opportunity.co was not in the results.

  54. @Louise

you know I added a counter to my LLL.Co s tonight and I did not realize how much traffic I was getting.

the counter is off the hook.

My plan is to monetize this traffic.

I just did preliminary analysis and my analysis is that I am getting about 1000 unique visitors a day on my LLL.Co s

this is worth $30,000 a year in traffic alone. WOW!!

    WOW WOW WOW WOW !!

summer time is great when I’m not in med school.

  55. I’ll show you where my new counter is so you can check this out yourself if you want. Go to this one of my LLL.Co s, like

    http://www.uok.co/

there on the home page you will find towards the bottom

    “Testimonials
    Read 122 client testimonials.”

    that number is my counter.

you can see it update with each visitor.

    Cheers.

  56. @ Robert

    You listed 726 LLL.co above.

1000 hits per day over 726 domains is not really all that impressive. So they average just over 1 hit/day each?

Not only that but short domains rarely have targeted traffic, unless they are keywords. Traffic that is not targeted is extremely hard to monetize.

You better hope the traffic is valuable as you have like $20K in renewal fees there.

    Brad

  58. @Brad Mugford

1000 visitors is just my initial conservative number.

But in less than 1 hour my counter is up over 250, so I am thinking more than that.

You will see on the page, one of the tabs is a

    Sell/Post

that right now is directed to my auction site,

    epier.com

    that alone is great value.

But I will develop this out to list my 2000 domains and allow others to list.

Eye balls are eye balls, and there are tremendous things you can do with this.

    Tremendous things.

  59. And do not underestimate the value of short domains

LLL s in general are hot.

Juan is not kidding when he saids

    L.Co s are already going for $1,500,000

people that arrive at anyone of my LLL s will say that is

    ‘sweet’

I wish I had such a short domain name.

there is so much I can do with that’ they will say.

many of these will make me offers for sure in the coming year.

  60. @Troy
    LOL
I will do it if needed but Elliot said that it was free and everybody was welcome to advertise his .CO for sale. So I also take advantage.

    @Rich
These $10 in CAX is a single time no refundable fee that allow to buy/bid (the idea was stop/refrain scammers, and that help a lot). You pay this membership fee one time only in your life, that you buy 1 or 1,000 names. So all the premium LL.CO for sale are really at $41/domain and NO $50.

I may understand those who want to sell at $500 (which is still a bargain price for LLL.CO) and those at $41, each one has valid reasons to act that way.

Personally I renewed yesterday 75% of my .CO and plan to buy few of these LLL.CO we have for sale at CAX tomorrow because that will be too stupid to lost this opportunity if nobody else take it.

  61. Hi,

    I only one .co domain…

    But,

What is Go daddy and other registers charging to renew .CO domains?

My ‘Enom” account say’s I can renew my one .CO for $9.95…

Just curious as to what other Registrars may be charging…and if it is a lot more than this?

    Best,
    Dan

  62. Judging from some of the terrible lists here, some of you need to step away from the reg button and go do something else with your lives before your accountant or wife makes you.

    OMG WTF LOL

  63. Hostages.co ($800)
    Guerrillas.co ($800)
    Jungles.co ($800)

Hostage.co is owned by someone else, but the singular of the other two are still reserved by the registry.

I may not drop these, still undecided. My concern with at least the first two is they may get re-reserved by the registry if they are let drop for the same reason Guerrilla.co is probably reserved.

I hand reg’d them. With the right news story any of the three are a good hold.

I also hand reg’d ColombianSingles.co and several variations thereof if anyone wants it those can all sell for 3x reg fee or 2x if you buy the whole lot of 9 of them.

I will drop all of these with the exception of maybe one. Just hard to decide which one is best (ie: also ColombianDating.co on the list)

If you want to contact me there is a form on my site or use whois. This post has a link to my site.

  64. I’d like to add to my last post that the prices for the first 3 is you buy all three ($800 each). It’s not worth it to me to sell just 1. Also if 3 different people happen to all want one then that is fine too. Sorry for the confusion.

  65. Hi Elliot,

    I am currently selling Comics.co for $8500

It is developed and includes the site. The domain alone has been valued by Sedo @ $8500.

It is a premium category killer that was grandfathered in in February ’10.

I am also looking to sell Trophies.co for $2500

Prices are firm. Contact via whois.

  66. Hi,

How do you say this in Spanish?

    ColumbiaMigraineHeadache .CO

Sorry, but no matter how anyone ever wanted to ‘spin’ this domain extension, it always has and will always be in the end…

Just be the domain extension for….surprise…Columbia!

I hate to see anyone lose money, and I wish everyone that has posted in this thread the very best…If you make a good sale(s)…great, I am very happy for you and I hope you make a profit.

    Again, IMHO…

This has been, and is maybe the most over hyped domain extension…EVER

    .CO does not mean:

    Company ~ Colorado ~ Corporation

Or any other ‘artificial meaning’ you want to give it.

And with all the new ‘.Brand’ extensions that will be coming out…along with the 500 or so another ‘generic’ extensions (that make some sort of sense at least)… in 2012 -2013

.CO… will get lost in the ‘shuffle’ and will be a long forgotten domain extension for most of the world.

So, I think in most cases…”Drop” has to be the main word here, I know no one want’s to hear it, but just the same, I feel it has to be said.

    Peace to all!
    Dan

BTW: This is not a ‘bash’ on anyone… I am just calling it as I see it…in this moment in time. So, Please do not take my post ‘personally’…as this is just my general view and is not directed at anyone in particular….at all.

    ___

    @ Drewbert….Agree ( I have been ‘guilty’ of this with . com’s) 😉

  70. @OwenFrager
What happened to “LLL or anything you can put on an Epik store are a sure bet.”. That’s a paraphrase of you on TheDomains about dot co last week. Keep pumping Epik…

LLL is golden. There are a finite number of these and the majority of end user success stories on .co site are LLLs. If you look outside the USA, any company that already has .co as part of a country code can now expand Globally with the shortened URL. i.e. Shoes.co.uk doesn’t need to be perceived as a British market supplier when drop the UK, they can be global.

As for my pumping Epik, it’s genuine and from the heart. Having spent $30k to no avail to build a site, I appreciate the value. There are many other good instant on development solutions- why park, domain power etc- some even free. But no one has shown me the kind of success stories and results being generated by Epik. I’ve seen Rob Monster pick up a $10 drop that no one wanted, throw a template on it and sell it for 10s of thousands to an end user in a couple of weeks. I see Rob Monster having the track record and clout and personal brand that big prospects will embrace. He is a rainmaker- a value creator- this is what he’s done his whole life. When you have an Epik site, you are apart of something bigger. Rob has had deep discussions with major etailers, hollywood, google and more. When the web goes video and QVC wants channels to expand their reach- addresses to run demos and sales of 1000s of generic products, Rob is going to package and sell your domain as part of a bigger value proposition that you could never sell on your own. That’s the bigger picture I see. When web goes video why wouldn’t O.co want sweaters.co and hundreds like it to sell in competition with QVC? I see 10s of thousands being spent on domains that have no appeal- how about buying $1000 domain and dressing it for success with a $1000 template. Now you own a business that shows to end users as if it cost you $30K. Wait till they start offering Epik gift certificates towards owning your own business at Office Depot. This guy is in it to win it. And I’ve made money for a lot of parking companies etc- helped mint millionaires at Google and GoDaddy, but no one has ever added value and built a strategy to close a sale for me. And for that he gets a lot of credit.

I will sell you every site Epic sold me for 50 cents on the dollar and donate the money to charity. You won’t do it. Your all rhetoric.

  85. opportunity.co recently changed the social page on their website from “tweets about .co” (which showed any tweet with #dotco) to “tweets from .co”.
I GUESS this decision came when domainers -like me- have been using this tag -specially these days when a year has passed- to market their .co domains which isn’t appropriate to display on the .co website

  89. What a pathetic display. What a shame that industry leaders never stepped forward to save these people from themselves. It happens every time a new loser extension comes out.

Forum owners now realize that there once million dollar forums are now trash cans and places where serious people stay away from.

It was only fair. If you want to let these types of people run wild on the forums, and if you are going to allow for the scamming of new domainers who don’t know better, then this is what you get.

An absolute disgraceful performance by people who have zero idea what makes a domain name have value. It boggles the mind, really. It is funny, yet disappointing. It seems like a bad April Fool’s joke. The people listing their names don’t seem to have a clue that the joke is on them.

I predict many bankrupties, to go along with the continuous pumping by these idiots. Good luck with that. Amazing.

  90. Guys

Would any of You be so kind as to say which extention .co or .net has better chance for success (not to distant future say 3-5 years) ?

    • @ pathetic

There will always be people making stupid investments no matter what… Just like there will always be anonymous cowards who make unconstructive comments.

This isn’t kindergarten either. Nobody needs to be responsible for the investments of others. I’ve been very open with the fact that I haven’t invested much in .CO and don’t think it will be a good short term investment. There are plenty of people making some money though. A $40 sale on a .CO is likely a 150% profit. However, there are millions of worthless .com names, and I’d rather own a 3 letter .CO than a nonsensical .com.

Sorry that you’re such a negative person.

  94. Add PBP .co to my list above so 27 LLL .co for $1,600, that’s $59.25 each. They also had 588 unique visitors in they last 30 days if parked is accurate. Many were not on parked until the last couple weeks so I estimate traffic at 650 per month for this portfolio.

  95. @Elliot

But look at the state of your blog post Elliot.. these poor people are falling over each other after spending thousands of dollars they were lead into believing we’re investements.

It’s disgraceful how the fat cats have plaid them, taken their money and pissed all over them – another sickening show of greed!

Where does it all lead to – it’s unreal !!

    • @ Barry

Go have a look at the shitty .com names currently for sale on namepros and dn forum right now.

Why should anyone be responsible for people who buy garbage domain names? Since domain names were first available, there have always been people who buy domain names that aren’t worth anything to anyone.

I would imagine that if i posted the same thread for people to list any names for sale, it would result in similarly lengthy replies. One thing that is interesting is that people here don’t seem to be liquidating their names right now, even though some probably should take whatever they can get.

  98. You know Owen, if you re-read your touching piece above it highlights how well Epik makes money for Epik. I’m a capitalist and fine with that, but your relentless promotion warrants note. Rob is a highly likable guy and one smart cookie, way smarter than me. The guy can sell ice to Eskimos. I was open and outward in my support even after the de-listing. But at some point “it has to make dollars if it makes sense.”

    The story?

Once upon a time a guy named Bob Fitz decided to play product domain developer. He bought a bunch of online properties believing the sellers statements about ROI. They did not deliver 1% of what was promised and the seller wouldn’t even buy them back at a huge discount. His wife gave him shit and his accountant called him an idiot.

    The End.

    @Elliot, sorry for the hijack.

  99. Very smart post by Elliot. This thread confirms just how many passive and non passive visitors he has who read his blog. It also allows anyone in the industry to quickly get an overview (or at quick snapshot) of the current state of the .co investment arena. For those who’ve stayed away from registering an .co’s like myself, this really helps determine whether one should invest or not invest. From what i can see, if you’re lucky you *might* stumble upon a worthwhile .co here or there.

Personally speaking, I’m still struggling to grasp the fact that .co is a Colombian domain extension. So to buy a geo .co just seems silly. (for example: texas.co) Perhaps I’m dead wrong, but it just doesn’t seem logical. I think it would be a big struggle for the general public to catch on, not to mention get confused with texas.com, in the above example. My guess is that one who have much more success in either one word generics or LL, and LLL’s. Other than that, much of what i see here is just noise and confusion.

  104. This looks like the day stock markets first dropped in the economical crisis, everybody wants to sell. I wonder if this thread or the upcoming .co drops (that will eventually make some investors quit domaing) will effect the index on idnx.com

  105. @Robert Cline…

    .me is going no where

The islands of Tuvalu…got lucky to get this domain extension, .TV (huge blunder by ICANN) ~ IMHO

Reality is that 99% of people that seen this domain extension…just assume it was created to stand for “TV” or “Television”

And this is just NOT the case at all.

Again, just like .CO will always be in the end the country domain extension for Columbia…

.TV is still just the country domain extension for the Tuvalu islands… which should have NEVER been approved by ICANN.

Instead it should be a new extension just coming out in 2012 -2013…that actually means “TV” or “Television”.

Besides, the domain country extension for “Tuvalu”….should in reality be: .’TU”

    But,

Verisign and others… muscled ICANN…into granting .TV to them, for their own financial benefits….IMHO

    Peace!

  106. @ Rayy.co

Rick Schwartz, Frank Schilling, Michael Berkens, Mike Mann, etc. can ask high prices for a few major reasons –

1.) They generally have assets that end users want.
2.) They all have huge portfolios.
3.) They don’t need the cash, so they have no motivation to sell for less than top dollar.

That business model is hard to replicate entering the market today.

  114. @Robert Cline

USA had more than enough chances in the first 1/2…the score before half time, should have been 3-5 to Zero, with any luck at all.

Then, they made a huge mistake, when they were up 2-1 with about 8 minutes left… and to use a ‘football’ term… they went into a ‘prevent defense’…when they had played the whole game…in Japans side of the field.

And, all of a sudden…they let Japan play on their side of the field. (coaching blunder)

Unfortunate…as they played more than well enough to win… but, bad coaching at the end, led to the ‘tie’… and mental mistakes on the free overtime goal shots…killed them.

Great game, but I cannot feel sorry for them, as it was theirs to lose…and they did.

USA out played Japan 85% of the game…

    what are you going do…

    Peace!
    Dan

  115. Hi Guys
All this talk about renewing .co’s so inspired by it I’ve just bought renewing.co 🙂 Is or will it be worth more than 15 bucks? Only time will tell, but partly it is in Your hands: As the domain superpower of the world You set the standards: the more .co’s You develop into websites the more they will be worth or so it’d seem. This is oc my private opinion as an European and beginner
    best of luck
sweet dreams of available .com’s (already midnight in Europe 🙂
    Jacek
ps. really hoped that You as domain PROS and Americans would be so kind as to advise me on which one to buy: .net or .co (sorry but I’m not that stupid to leave .com for .co if available as someone suggested)

  116. @Dan

hearing from you pains me more.

    I did not see it

just been reading online play by play action

    did not realize

    nevertheless, I have

  117. Hello everyone, thank you Elliot for your advice and also for this .

  119. @Brad,

“…Rick Schwartz, Frank Schilling, Michael Berkens, Mike Mann, etc. can ask high prices for a few major reasons -”

    You are absolutely right.

I was just joking on my part…just mucking around…for domain sales strategies…lol.

I probably fit to the 3rd point you mentioned: “…They don’t need the cash, so they have no motivation to sell for less than top dollar.”

  120. Good Afternoon “Gentleman”

  121. Thanks for doing this Elliot.

Cline’s consistency finally makes a bit more sense. Hate to say it but Cline has actually got quite an artillery if he has the patience to keep them.

Many other dotcos are on here because they were going to be dropped anyway and hence are of a much lower quality than a lot of the market. A simple bit of research will show that that there are both a greater number and greater proportion of crappy dotcoms than dotco.

I thought it was the unspoken strategy to hold these (good ones) through 2010, 2011 and maybe even 2012?

Anyway, to keep things in perspective – these are only a fraction of the 1% the registry has verified of owners who have 11 or more domains.

99% are businesses, organisations and cautious domain investors who own 1, 2 or 10. Also bear in mind that there are those like myself who own less than 20 .co domains that also fall into that 1%.

This is by no means a bubble and if I never even sold one .co domain, I would be happy with the revenue generated by them.

  122. I am selling 3 .co domains:

    RUTH.CO – $5000
    LESBO.CO– $4000
    JOBOPENINGS.CO $500

  128. There will always be people making stupid investments no matter what… Just like there will always be anonymous cowards who make unconstructive comments.
    —–

Well, I’m not anonymous- and while I’m probably a generally ‘negative’ person, that same cynicism allows me to see trainwrecks like this before they jump the rails.

I mean, seriously- at what point does the cheerleading stop, in the name of ‘positive thinking’, and people start feeling comfortable with calling this spade for the spade that it really is? Is the .co blog advertising REALLY so lucrative that it’s worth suspending logic and moderating the truth, over?

This is a fucking bloodbath- you know it, I know it, everyone but the poor, suffering SOB’s tied up in it knows it… Granted, they’re all about to learn this lesson the hard way, but when you see a blind man skipping towards the edge of a cliff, do you say nothing on the off chance that he might have wings and be able to fly?

What’s so nasty about this is that this entire failboat didn’t even require the benefit of hindsight.

  129. @LS Morgan

reading your post I can feel, taste your bitterness

    why ?

why are you so emotionally entangled with the .Co that

you seem to make it a personal mission to downplay what Juan, Lori, and team have managed to do.

what have you achieved that you are so haughty and better than everyone else ?

  130. OMG, so many newbies got onto .CO. So many of those names will drop. I would not have touched 99 % of the names listed with a 10 foot pole to be honest.

Don’t people even research anymore? It’s like no effort went into their selections at all! Quality, not quantity.

When the dust settles I look forward to seeing how .CO will evolve and how much it will increase in value over the next 5 years.

I may be willing to let go of some of my less valuable ones for the right price.

  131. You know, I think this thread is not the best place to list domains for sale.

I doubt any buyers visit this forum, thinking, Oh I need a domain name for my business, I’m going to elliots forum to get myself a nice domain name.

These forums are filled with predominantly sellers and domainers.

Therefore you see someone list their domain right before renewal and naturally think

    desperate

When in fact it is just another channel of marketing.

    @LS Morgan

you try and sound smart, but you come across arrogant and trying too hard to put down a beast of an extension that is eating you from the inside out.

  132. @Robert

Hold your good LLL’s. Drop most of the other names you have. Unless you have an income substantial to the renewal costs to get your money back over the next 5 years.

Interseting idea Elliot. I always enjoy reading your blog. You really opened a can of worms here dude. Ha ha.

  142. SOLUTION FOR ALL DESPERATE .CO INVESTORS:
SOLUTION FOR ALL DESPERATE .CO INVESTORS:
SOLUTION FOR ALL DESPERATE .CO INVESTORS:

I suggest you start an auction at dncountdown.com , I think this is the best practice right now.

Forward your domain to it’s auction page over there, perhaps when an end-user types in your domain in the address bar they will land on the auction page, if you’re lucky they will want to bid before some one else takes the domain they want.

You should place no reserve or low reserve if you want to attract domain investors too.

In the description you should state that your contact info is in the WHOIS in case the reserve wasn’t met and the bidder still wants to contact you privately with their offer (such info is good for end users who don’t know there’s such thing as the WHOIS)

If you got no bids there then I believe it’s a good idea to drop.

I fixed priced some domains at $250 on sedo, click on my nickname of this post to go there.

Some logos for some domains bit.ly/5brnd (appreciate if you tweet/share my designs as a thank you for my suggestion)

  143. My full .co portfolio with prices are at http://domainfrogus.wordpress.com/

These are not ‘clear it out before they expire’ prices, but they good names. I’m renewing them today.

I’ll offer a discount for anyone who wants to buy in bulk. Shoot me an email if interested.

Contact info is on the site. I’m not interested in getting into the great debate, and I won’t be following new comments on this page. For me, .co has more than paid off.

  144. This is obviously a very special period for the .CO extension, marked by uncertainty. Today, I have officially renewed the last .CO I had for renewal. I had posted that NNN.co (052.co) for sale. However, since no one was willing to buy it for the small amout I posted, I renewed it, which means I am not consider selling it now. I currently have about a dozen .COs (some are really premium keywords) and in the process of developing two of them. Since I have renewed all my .COs, I am now on a “wait and see” period.

  145. TravelDestination.co is up for sale from 3500 -5000 EUR (negotiable). Name is fine for global as well Columbian travel company.

Contact me also if you think you are able to broker TravelDestination.co to the end user. This domain is not going to be dropped for sure, also I’m going to actively prospect end users in two weeks, so the price given above is valid only limited time.

You may catch me via maciej.wasyluk@gmail.com

    @BlueFire1

The analogy to real estate is flawed in this case as real estate has an obvious market and liquid value.

Most domains in general do not. What is worth $10K to one person could be worth $0 to someone else.

Many people are just unrealistic when it comes to pricing domains.

Some people above are asking $1000+ for domains they know they will drop. Give me a break.

  151. Brad is right and this thread was (I thought) supposed to be for selling off the .co’s you are going drop. That means you should be asking no more than the renewal fee for your domains posted here so you can recoup your initial spending.

It’s beyond ridiculous what some people here are asking for in this thread for utter garbage.

This is not an end user venue. This is strictly domainers posting here that might want to grab your domains before you drop them because either you can’t afford to renew them or you don’t think they are worthwhile to renew. In either case don’t try to sell them for more than renewal fee. If you think they are worth so much more than suck it up and renew them.

We (most of us) are not suckers who want to pay end user prices and beyond for the worthless crap you foolishly registered and won’t even pay the renewal fee for.

Renewal date is tomorrow so if you want to avoid renewals, price accordingly $10-30 for stuff you are going to drop.

One super awesome domainer GAVE me a bunch of domains before he dropped them because I had bought a couple from him before. Fairly decent domains too.

Be REALISTIC about your prices. Do you want $10 or $0 dollars if you drop?

“It’s beyond ridiculous what some people here are asking for in this thread for utter garbage.”

Man you have so many low quality domains and you are talking things like this to people. Respect them!
    They probably done their best.

Secondly, Some people do not aware that in the picture
    is other person not you.
I think Eliot should not allow this, but he probably does not know.
You try to earn people respect putting this picture…this is so childish.

Christopher is young guy with beard looking like Muslim.
I do not mean to offend you but its true.
    I saw your `interview` at zoop`s newsletter 🙂

Few examples excellent Christopher`s domains which he even renewed , short brandable, ultra premium 🙂

    NAPAVALLEYBEDANDBREAKFAST.CO
    NAPABEDANDBREAKFAST.CO
    HYDROPONICGARDENING.CO
    KOCHBROTHERS.CO
    YELLOWHAMMER.CO (commercial one 🙂
    WATERPROOFPAPER.CO
    VIDEOGAMEADDICTION.CO
    TRUECRIME.CO 🙂
    SHOOTINGGALLERY.CO

    and many like these

“It’s beyond ridiculous what some people ..” have:)

  156. @Brad

The analogy is valid if you don’t go into some over-analyzed debate about it.” I have X priced at XXXXX and somone offers XX”. The point is sending offers that are WAY lower than the listed price is an insult, regardless of the market.

Evertytime I see your name on here its a guarantee you are .CO bashing or telling people they have made bad investments. We get it! You don’t like .CO, or don’t think its a sound investment. You have made your point.Get over it and move on.

  157. Keep those dot co coming because I am going to make big offers , I see many good dot co domains.

I wanted to reg garbageco but it is already take so I took conversationoverload.com as there is too much BS talk.

  158. @ Christopher

I do not know what you are talking about..
You offend people everywhere thats why namepros (or dnjurnal) banned you from posting your stupid replies.
You said about ban yourself at zoop.co
They do not do that without reason.
Also, you do not have respect for people who are for years in this industry like Rick Schwartz.
You talked rubbish about Rick and so on at zoop.

Its all true I recommend anyone to contact Chris( who is often on this blog ) and read your `interview`.

And change this picture!!! why are you using someone`s picture?

I just asked if you want sell your domains at 30 usd each I can do that as they are for sale.
You should actually be happy for so good promotion.

I think Elliot should only change that man picture which you posted in your profile

Before criticising other people domains show first that you are so great.
At the moment you are just ashamed.

  159. How rare are the following domains, not only are they the shortest but few in number

    Only
    26 L.Co $1,500,000.00
    676 LL.Co $150,000.00
    17,576 LLL.Co $15,000.00

Makes these the Crown Jewels of Domains.

  160. I’ve had CUY(.)CO at GoDaddy listed for about $10 I think.. I don’t remember.

    No one interested.

It’s even a REAL SPANISH WORD but it fails the “Premium” letter test that domainers love so much.

Whatever. One stupid name, waste of time.

  161. @Defaultuser

    to an average person

    G.Co

might not be worth $10 , they might say, huh, what is that, I ain’t giving you my $10 bucks.

But to google it is worth

    $2,500,000.00

you get the point, you got to wait out for the right user, and they ain’t on godaddy I can tell you.

  162. I have some for low cost that I probably won’t renew:

    30TH.CO
    40TH.CO

    $30.00 each.

    I have CAPITALVENTURE.CO
    CAPITALVENTURE.US
    VACATIONPLACE.CO

according to network solutions they want 21,000 for capitalventure.com
any suggestions from experienced folks what these are worth?

    email: sendtotomwillits@yahoo.com for offers.

  168. @Brad

Thanks a lot Brad, I really appreciate Your opinion -> I am trying to keep my domain portfolio diversified between .com’s .co’s and ‘net’s. Although I think its just a matter of time and .co will become number 2 (before .net and .org) but its all up to the BIG players like Google and others (even SEDO is pushing it along with .me: see page 8)

    http://sedo.com/fileadmin/documents/pressdownload/Q1_2011Market_Study.pdf

There are still some interesting domains available out there: for example I just bought IN-LAWS.net ->is it worth more than 10 bucks?

And what about .tv’s, .me’s and .it’s? Are they worth while?

    Best of luck
    Jacek

ps. I realize the list I posted at the begining is mostly composed of chicken sh.t names -> they make me laugh as well, which is good because it means that I am learning.
I only wish I’d sent the money to charity instead

  169. @Adrian

I just realized it was 2 for that price. I’ll take McLeod too if the offer still stands. Push to same account Dijon went to.

    Thanks and best!!

  170. Godaddy .co renewals

Renew them 5 at a time, and the codes will work.

    gdbb1901

25% off brings each to $22.49

  171. So much for the stats that COINTERNET keep bringing out that show they’ve created an end-user market and that they’ve avoided the speculative market. Lots of speculation here.

Not sure I understand the marketing ploy though:

“WILL DROP THIS SOON SO PLEASE OFFER ME $500+ NOW TO GET THIS DOMAIN”

Nor do I understand the Epik pumping in this thread. Doesn’t Owen Frager have his own blog? Isn’t Rob Monster big enough to pretend to care about his customers himself?

  172. Google’s on board. Expected as they are not fools.
So many bad purchases listed here. So many.
When the dust settles, I look forward to watching the momentum that .CO gets.

More and more businesses rebranding to a clean .CO.
If it keeps going the way it is, it will have an even greater impact on .COM value.

.COM investors are worried, hence they are adamantly posting and bringing down .CO. Hell, I have a few one word $xx,xxx .COM’s and I am worried, yet I have a diverse portfolio so my concerns are not as intense as those that ONLY invest in .COM.

The more they post in defiance, the more you know that .CO is a worth while investment. The more they compare it to .ME, the more it enforces how little research they have done. The more they argue and post “.com is king”, the easier it is to identify the sheep. This makes it very easy to spot the difference between a domainer and an visionary entrepreneur.

Everything starts somewhere. Also the sheep are in abundance. You’re not going to make serious $$$ by doing what everyone else is doing. You need to take chances and make guesses… educated ones.

If (or more like when) .CO gets classified as a TLD, then that is when people with good .CO names will be sitting on gold.

Most .CO domainers need to understand the basics. You need names that are short, usable in e-commerce and words/keywords that can be easily monetized. Don’t hand register garbage unless you are going to develop it, otherwise you’re just wasting your money.

.CO is still in its infancy, invest wisely and sit and wait. It could flop, but me thinks it will catch on, as it’s on another level to .TV, .ME, .CM and .MOBI. It makes those extensions look like playschool. Look at Sedo sales. .CO is already on par with .ME in terms of sales. The indicators are there, you just have to know what you are looking for.

  173. Hi Elliot

Could you please delete my previous post (July 16, 9.41pm) as I’ve been hit with quite a bit of spam since posting my email address.

    Thanks!

  174. hehe thanks Louise. It only took me all day but its off the ground 🙂

Everyone is welcome to come list their names FREE at allthe.co
Ive been taking another look at the names on this thread, and they are of course 99% worthless. Just like gold ore.

  175. .CO is firing at the moment.
Companies are replacing their garbage .COM names for .CO.
The big boys are using it for redirection and rebranding.
    Wait another 5 years.
This is not a .ME, .MOBI or .TV, .CM etc.
.CO is on a completely other level.
That’s why it has .COM investors running scared and posting massive amounts of comments. They are beginning to understand it is starting to decrease the value of .COM. It will continue as well. They are scared and frustrated, especially if they did not purchase any .CO. Why else would they post? Think of the psychological aspect, not just the words you read.
You have to also rememeber that when they post arrogant remarks, the ones that sheepishly post “.com is king” are only reiterating what they have been told. They are sheep that follow the crowd. No innovation and no contribution to the growth of the Internet. Sheep are very easy to spot.
.CO is going global, and it will become a true TLD.
The morons that compare it to other extensions that have been realeased over teh last few years are either fools or not very educated. Either way, don’t give them 2 cents of your time. The fact that people are hating means it is a threat.

  176. Perhaps the reality of the Landrush Anniversary has not sunk in with some people. A lot of the highly speculative domains that could not be flipped or monetised will be dropped. The .co registry has marketed the ccTLD well. The .com has over 96 million domains and .co has only 1 million or so. In real terms, that would translate to a .co website count of between 100K and 200K websites if typical gTLD metrics are used. The .co is already global, judging by the country breakdown provided by the .co registry. Companies replacing their .com domains with .co is not happening on any large scale. All new TLDs have a highly speculative component in the first year of operation and .co is no different to others.

  177. Question: Why are so many premium .CO’s registered inside Columbia?

Example: Power.co was registered in March of 2010 in the second level. I would understand Power.com.co 3rd level. I thought that was their new internal designation. I read there was a grandfather clause tell the end of March 2010 that gave priority to 3rd level registrants. If that’s true why would anyone invest in .CO if these premium domains were never available?

I’ve come across a bunch like this (not that I could afford or have a chance at them) and I’m sure many other folks have too. Just wonder what other people think of this. I think it stinks and shows just why .CO will never receive any real respect.

  178. @ John McCormac

“A lot of the highly speculative domains that could not be flipped or monetised will be dropped”

Of course, look at the garbage the domaining newbies purchased. Look at the lists of useless drivel. Much I would not even buy for 2 bucks as a .COM.

“The .co registry has marketed the ccTLD well. The .com has over 96 million domains and .co has only 1 million or so. In real terms, that would translate to a .co website count of between 100K and 200K websites if typical gTLD metrics are used. ”

So if we go by gTLD metrics, .COM only has between 10 million to 20 million websites developed?

“Companies replacing their .com domains with .co is not happening on any large scale.”

Yes, however it is starting to happen. The extension is only a year old John. Lol.

“All new TLDs have a highly speculative component in the first year of operation and .co is no different to others.”

Can you compare this to .TV, .ME, .MOBI? Did many billion dollar companies rebranded to these extension John? How many countries already had a part of the extension already in their ccTLD?

I think John, like me, is heavily invested in .COM’s.

  179. @Damon Yes. I have looked at the domains that have been registered and .co has been highly speculated despite the registration fee being comparatively high. It would have been even more speculated had the fee been close to that of .com.

Most people seen the numbers of registered domains in a gTLD such as .biz or .info and expect a similar number of developed websites but it does not work out that way. There is a significant element of PPC in gTLDs where domains are parked on PPC. Then there’s the holding page element where domains are just parked on registrar holding pages. Then there are the domains that are redirected to websites in other TLDs (typically ccTLD websites that have registered the equivalent .com for brand protection). Web usage is a very complex issue and web development can be expensive. However due to the historical nature of .com as a TLD (rather than a gTLD), the usage will be slightly higher than that of the gTLDs (.biz .info etc) as older websites will have been developed first on .com TLD.

Companies are not replacing their .com domains with .co. This is not happening on any large scale and there is a very significant percentage of .co domains that redirect to exact match websites in other TLDs. A few high profile companies in the US have rebranded or purchased short .co domains but this does not mean that the small websites who primarily use .com are going to switch any time soon.

Well .tv also seems to be targeting the US market. The .me is a very underrated ccTLD and one that has effectively knocked .name on the head. It would make more branding sense for Facebook to use .me for an url shortner. The Colombian subdomains accounted for around 30K domains in .co ccTLD. However their target market is local as is the target market for many ccTLDs. This is a point that is often lost on people with primarily .com experience. The .mobi sTLD is a technologically orientated TLD and it has over a million registrations. However it has been a bit of a wipeout for domainers. It did launch in the middle of the domain bubble and some really strange prices were paid for domains but you have to remember that this was when there was an artificial scarcity created by domain tasting. People were looking for alternatives and .mobi seemed like the next big thing.

If you read that post on Thedomains.com about the Top 50 .co webhosters and Godaddy having around 33% of the .co market then you might see that I’m not exactly a domain investor.

Like I said before I am a new player in the magical world of domaining but I have a hunch .co’s are worth more than 15 bucks ( within say next 5 years) and there are still some interesting ones out there: I just bopught DoNot.co not that I don’t like .co – to the contrary: I wish it was do.co instead 🙂

    Best regards
    Jacek
ps. while surfing I still see some interesting .net’s or.org’s -> what do You think are they worth 10 bucks?
    example In-Laws.net

  185. Keep those dot co coming and please register more dot co.

I love them all and I will be contacting some of you to make offers.

Please be patient, I am going thru the list of many good dot co to buy.

Yes,totally agree with most of you all, Dot CO will be the #1 premier domain.
Dot CO is King, dot com sucks.

    Love dot co!!!

p/s Micosoft is buying a couple of dot co

  186. @Pe “I think your knowledge is working against you.”
As I said, I am not an investor. I just run HosterStats.com and the knowledge is based on looking at a list of about 616K .co domain names and running a monthly web survey on .co websites. The domaining business only focuses on a very small segment of .co domain names. There is a lot of brand protection in .co ccTLD by large companies and also by small and medium sized businesses protecting their ccTLD or .com domain name.

  187. Hello there,

Although, following domains are to be renewed in 6 months, I’d like to let them go.

    – DiamondFashion.co – for jewelry shop/ diamond jewelry manufacturer – I’ll let it go for sure. You may grab this one for 250 USD or offer your price and I may put it on auction through Sedo.

    – PreFallFashion.co & Pre-FallFashion.co – “Pre-Fall Fashion” is one of the main seasons in fashion world, presented during main fashion weeks and shows. Huge thing for .com which I own but would like to flipp .co quickly – just drop me your lowball price via email given at the end of this message.

    – GayStyle.co – dunno about this. Got a feeling it may suit an end user but since I own european countries extension for this I don’t mind to let go .co for less. Just drop me an lowball offer via email and we may go through some negotiations.

    – StocksTrade.co – 250 USD

    – FrenchFashion.co – an end user domain but if you’re able to give me a decent price than I might be willing to let it go

    – FundsOnline.co – also an end user domain, tho 2500 USD for this one would make it yours

Drop me an offer onto maciej.wasyluk@gmail.com

    All best,
    Maciej

  188. That is a truly impressive showcase of awful domain names.
Awful because so many .co listed here would hardly sell if they were .com. Even among domainers few people understand what makes domains valuable…
A bad domain is a bad domain no matter how much lipstick you put on it… But people never learn. They don’t learn from other extension failures and overhypes, When they finally do, another generation of newbies will pick up where the others left. I too could nearly retire on the money wasted on these worthless registrations.

Wanna get rich ? Invest in .cn domains now.
.cn is valuable ! Proof: Google have owned G.CN even before G.CO.

  189. @ Kate

The .co domains listed here are of low quality because they are domains FOR SALE! This isn’t a list of everyones best names, this is a big drop list basically! Everyone is hanging on to their better domains and they won’t list them here obviously.

However I will agree with you that, there are some complete shockers here:

    1. That no one should have EVER registered, and

    2. The prices people are asking, even for okay generic domains are ridiculous. Some people are dreamers and don’t know what they’re doing!

The fact that the .Co registry is still holding on to thousands of generic names like http://crazy.co and http://cleaning.co (the list is endless) makes me a little worried that they are still holding most of the good names.

But at the same time it is good that these names will be auctioned, and raise prices and the profile for .CO in general.

  190. @ Elliot

Thankyou for the opportunity to list domains for sale.
I’ve sold around 20 names in past 24 hours from this blog (prices $7.50 to $15 each) just because I wanted to clear them. Better to get $X than $0!

    Thanks again

  191. It’s funny. .CO is branded as an International alternative to .COM. It is going up as an ALTERNATIVE to the overpriced and flooded .COM market.
For Domainers like me that have a heavy investment in .COM, I pray that these people are right.
If .CO takes off as an alternative and gains the momentum it may achieve, all our .COM’s are going to be worth a considerable amount less in a few years.
The thing is, no one can tell what is going to happen. Everyone can put in their 2 cents, but all opinions are worth a grain of salt. All I know is I am gald I grabbed some sweet .CO names, just in case.
It’s up to the public to decide, not the Domaining world.
I guess we come back to this blog in 4 years and we flame. Question is… who will be flamed?

  192. HEY ELLIOTT THANKS FOR THE OPPOURTUNITY TO GET IN THE MIX. I HAVE BEEN IN THE BUSINESS FOR A DECADE BEHIND THE SCENES. I SEE A HUGH VALUE PROGRESSION IN THE .CO WORLD IN THE NEXT 24 -36 MO MAYBE SOONER.

I WOULD BE WILLING LIQUIDATE A FEW OF MY COs TO FINANCE A COUPLE OF SMALL DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS.
PLEASE MAKE OFFERS ON WHOLE PORTFOLIO LISTED OR
ANY PART. PLEASE NO LOW-BALLERS, NOT INTERESTED.

  193. couple interesting things I learned while researching to determine which of the 200 keywords to renew.

I checked their corresponding .com versions and guess what I found

95% of these .com sites are empty fricken parked pages.

I think .com is littered with nothing but parked pages.

At least I plan to develop if not sold.

  194. Would anyone want to partner up and help develop some of my domain names?

I have over 200 names with a CPC of $35 or higher.

    Also have names like:

Have a ton of .co’s. Will be worth something, someday.

Would love to partner with someone smart and develop sites for the following domains:

  197. @Robert

That site was already for insurance.co.uk but it is one of many sites that are dropping their longer names for shorter, snappier .co names.
Unlike other .com investors, I did not fail to notice that .co is already used in 80 plus countries as their cctld.
This is where it will pay off and has its real value in years to come. Shame most that other .com investors are so ignorant. You can’t compare .co to other extensions. ME, TV, MOBI, CM… have nothing on .co. Apples to oranges.
Thank god we have innovators that take risks. Otherwise we would all be mindless sheep.

  198. @BL

You’ve been in the industry for 10 years and you hand register those names? Hmmm.

Love your outlook on .CO though. I am giving it 36 – 48 months. If I see no movement after that… well, little lost.

Domaining is one of my many entrepreneurial incomes, so I am sweet. Would be interesting to see how much .CO affects the value of my .COM portfolio in the future though. .COM domainers won’t admit it but I do. I’m not an arrogant fool that lives in a bubble.

  199. The names are pathetic, but not as pathetic as the intelligence of the posters. How on earth can you register this puke? You guys are the suckers that finance the lifestyles of those who push this pigshit .co and other jackass extensions.

You get played time and time again, and your only way out is to pump your garbage for a few years and sell a few names to each other. Then you are done…..bankrupt or homeless.

Then a new entensions comes out and it all starts again. You are the biggest losers in all of the world. The ignornace level is as high as I have ever seen in any business.

You just don’t “get it”. It is that simple. Major league loserdom here.

  200. LOL so funny.

I appreciate this post, and I believe to a limited extent it has achieved exactly what it was meant to do.
Sales of domains have occurred here, and the elliotsblog server probably saw some solid traffic.
Im personally quite delighted with my purchase, I got a nice name at a reasonable price.
    Thanks Elliot great idea 🙂

  201. **Update** – Summer.Co

Just knocked back an offer (second) for Summer.co for $5500 + cost of transfer.

    Keep you posted.

  202. @pathetic

You are pathetic…dot co will kill dot com.

These dot co owners are the smartest creative people on Earth and they see things that we normal people can’t see in the future.

With all the good dot co names like spring/summer dot co, I’ll be making big purchases soon.

Now Pathetic, you owe these wonderful intelligent dot co owners an apology….

  204. The http://allthe.co site is really great!

One neat feature for the buyer is the ability to type in a keyword, such as “customer,” or “cash,” which he may need for an end user or development himself, and the posts with the domain names appear.

So far, no entries for “health,” or “finance.” But I see a few here . . .

  209. I think some people are rather cavalier about their holdings.

    HomesIn.Co @ $25,000, Weaves.co @ $10,000

You would think that this wouldn’t go past the “expired” date at that value. You’d think wrong.

Names at that value should be renewed automatically or years out. I can’t believe these $25,000 worth of domains may drop my mistake!

  210. I have a small portfolio of dotco domains, I have used several for my own websites and I have sold some at mid $x,xxx
    I won’t be listing only here as I (a) won’t be dropping any & (b) wouldn’t sell at less than $x,xxx
That said, I should point out that I don’t have any like the god-awful domains listed above! lol

  211. To put it bluntly the vast majority of the names showcased here are not worth reg fee period. Frankly, cutting loses it the way to go. Dreams can burn big holes in your wallets.

  212. Lil late to this party , but will try to unload this:

  222. Unfortunately some of the previous post are correct some of the names on posts above should not have been registered.

    Time value of money.

$1000 in .co domains put in a mutual fund.
    $1000 annual investment in fund
    at 8% average over 25 years investment = $85,000.
    20 years $54,000
    10 years $17,000.

A fine alternative to .co investing.

Also considering that women.co sold for $25k if your domain is not the quality of women.co then you can’t list it for $25k. Also see Pizza.co $15k and CreditCard.co for $17k. This is the fair market value of the domains, how do we know? Because that is what someone paid for them.

  223. In response to MB above. I am developing a search engine dedicated to websites built on the .CO domain name. I hope it enables us .CO enthusiasts to stand out a bit more. If you have a developed website please check out COWEB.CO.

  225. Well the detected expired domain count for .co here is now at 73,909 domains out of 652,606 .co domains tracked. Anyone heard from Robert Cline recently? There’s a lot of potentially good domains on that list.

The latest .co web survey (approx 587,497 .co websites) is running and it should be interesting to see if there are any major changes from last month.

  226. The reason the .CO domains listed here are offered at such low prices is not because .CO is worthless, but because they are very poorly chosen names. No offense guys but the stark reality is that most of these names in this threat are junk and would not be valuable even if they were .COM. Some of them are so obscure that I wonder how anyone thought they’d be worth more than the reg price. The .CO is still a very hot property, and this is common knowledge with those involved in this business. Good quality LLL.CO’s, even those without a site, are going for $10K plus.

  227. this is probabely the saddest comment section I’ve ever seen in the history of domain blogs. Thousends of domains that will never sell. The smell of desperation actually forms a fog-like appearance in the front of my moniter.

Does any new domaiin buyer ever think about learning the business of how to buy domains beofre spending all that money on worothless domains? It probabebly is a good idea that these buyers get a domain ebook or hire a domain consultatant FIRST before venturing any further into domain purchsaes.

It just seems so sad to see this long long list of domains, mostley worthless… not all, but most. BIG ADVICE: Learn the business and save yourself money, even though maybe this .co fiasco thins out the crowd becasue most of these “.co” buyers will never buy another domain thinking they have “learned” their lesson that domains suck. That would be sad too

      @ Richard

Did you read the post, purpose for it, and directions, or did you get all excited when you saw a place to post your names for sale and just ignored them?

  230. Hi Elliot,
I actually got an e-mail from somebody about a domain and when Googling his name I found this thread. I quickly read the intro, but there were too many posts to read. I had a quick read now and see that my post shouldn’t be here. Please delete if necessary.

  232. I have ctr.co and have received numerous offers for it primarily because it is the acronym for “click through rate”. As mentioned in my previous post (from August 30, 2011) GOOD QUALITY .CO names are selling for quite a lot. Other than for a couple of exceptions almost every domain listed in the comments are worth no more than the registration price. Too many people go out and buy dozens or even hundreds of domains thinking they will be able to sell them at some point. Even if one were to assume they could sell it for $1 over their reg cost it would not be worth it. Let the noobs buy up the worthless domains and make the registrars rich, but the more experienced know the real game.

I know no one checks estibot but DualCore.co appraised for $2,100, but even just based on the smartphone craze, I’m 100% sure it’s a valuable domain name.
