Sign Up for ICANN Emails & Newsletters

Although I don’t write all that much about ICANN, I can (pun intended) tell you that ICANN policy and decisions impact domain investing in a big way. ICANN may not govern how we do business as domain investors, but ICANN dictates many of the policies we follow regarding domain names, including transfer and registration, expiration and deletion, domain name disputes, and many other aspects of domain ownership.

In addition to reading various blogs and forums to get the latest ICANN news, you can sign up for four ICANN emails to stay informed. Some of these emails come regularly and others are sent when there is news to announce or updates made to ICANN policy.

Here’s how to sign up for the ICANN newsletters. On the ICANN website home page, there is a header that says “Stay Connected” with a field to add your email address. You can then select from four ICANN newsletters, which can be sent in plain text or HTML. The four newsletters are:

  • News Alerts
  • Newsletter
  • Compliance Newsletter/li>
  • Policy Updates

Once you’ve selected your preferred email newsletters and sign up, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a link you’ll need to click to confirm your request I hadn’t noticed these newsletters until this morning, and I signed up to receive the ICANN News Alerts and ICANN Newsletter emails. It’s always good to stay apprised of ICANN information and news.

You might find https://myicann.org/ useful – you can sign up for daily emails with the latest news and publications. Admittedly some of it is not going to be of that much interest unless you’re following a particular subject, but it does include a lot of information that isn’t in other newsletters
