Sunday Domain Industry Tips, Thoughts, and Updates

I am hosting a bachelor party in Stowe, Vermont later on this winter. I am in the process of planning some fun things to do, and I am open to suggestions if you have any great ideas. I would love to do something with The Alchemist brewery (they brew their famous Heady Topper) if you have a connection there!

Here are some domain industry tips, thoughts, and updates. I invite you to share your thoughts and updates as well:

I am really interested to see the Uniregistry / DomainNameSales integration. Admittedly, I have been using DNS less than before now that I am hosting my own offer page, but I am still curious what benefits the integration will bring to customers.

If you email me a large list of domain names you are selling, there isn’t a good chance I will take the time to review the entire list. If you send me a file of any kind with your domain names listed, there is absolutely no chance I am going to open the file. Your best bet is to pick the 5 best domain names you own and send those. If I am interested in any of them, I will likely ask to see more.

.Online hit 100,000 registrations last week, according to nTLDStats.com. There are now 14 new gTLD extensions that have over 100k registrations, and there are several others that are getting close to that number.

If you are in the NYC area, check out this domain investor meetup sponsored by Domain Sponsor / Rook Media on December 1.

NamesCon organizers announced that close to 700 people have registered for the January conference, and they are still expecting 1,000 attendees.

As I mentioned previously, at the beginning of the year, I traded advertising on my blog in exchange for NamesCon conference tickets that I can give away. The first person to reply “I want to go to NamesCon” in the comment section will get a free NamesCon conference pass. Keep in mind that some comments need to be moderated (approved) before publishing, and the conference pass will go to the first comment made rather than the first one to appear.

  1. Many years ago I was the best man for a friend who wanted an outdoor adventure for his bachelor party. We hiked to the top of Mt. Mansfield and spent the night in the hut just below the peak. Thanks for bringing that memory back.
