Uniregistry: More Offers After Landing Page Redesign

A little over a week ago, Uniregistry debuted new landing pages, which ushered in the era of Uniregistry Market. The graphic header was removed, and the landing pages all feature blue hyperlinks and a background photograph of a snowcapped mountain.

For those of us who rely on domain name sales as a primary source of revenue, the biggest change was the top of the landing page. The bright green offer bar, which had previously been bright orange, was replaced by a blue offer bar with white text. At the time, I wondered how much of an impact this change would have on the number of offers I received.

Because I have a fairly small domain portfolio and don’t park all of my domain names with Uniregistry, the change in the number of  offers I receive would not be statistically significant. An extra two or three offers could throw off those numbers. Instead, I asked Frank Schilling if he could share the increase or decrease in offers received in the week since the change was made.

According to Frank, there has been an increase in offers across the platform. “It was up marginally in the first week I’d say 3–5% ..  “definitely” up tho week to week across the board,” he told me. Frank also let me know about a Uniregistry Market demo that will be forthcoming on DomainSherpa.com and shared some additional thoughts on the platform:

“We’re doing a Demo on DomainSherpa.com that will be out (including great Q&A with users) this coming Monday.  The biggest takeaway for users should be that this is our release product.  We intend to bring the full resources of the company to bear to improve Uniregistry Market further,  increase distribution and syndication opportunities.

Uniregistry Market is a forever product.  We are deeply passionate about it..  It’s like a child for us and we want to see it be great and will do anything positive to help it get there. This runs to the core of our business.”

Since domain sales has become a major revenue driver for Frank’s portfolio, I can only presume Uniregistry would be monitoring this closely. If you have a large portfolio, you are welcome to share some of your offer data if you would like.

  1. 3-5% could be attributed to March Madness, Spring Break, etc… Very thin margin to evaluate.

In 2016 we are seeing more inquiries out of the Africaa, Russia, and India but all these offers are for low sums hence low quality leads, These markets are emerging, but we operate on different economic scales which makes deals very hard to complete. More confused inquiries also.

These landers including the top bar, do not stand out as much especially the inquiry link. Customization tools would help.

I would like to see in the tutorial how to setup the payment plans etc…

BetterBurgers.com is a good reference site

  2. I can’t say I notice an increase in inquiries. I do notice the new landing pages are a bit hard on the eyes and PPC revenue has dropped.

I wish I could get that PPC revenue back. An option to switch to the old lander would be nice. That doesn’t seem like it would be too hard to implement.

  3. 1st week seemed slower…..but back to normal for inquiries.

Parking slightly higher than last month.

    Really, too early to tell.

    (1,300 names)

  4. Would be interesting if they let us choose the colors. Then let everyone view the top click through colors of the week (and which colors did the worst). I’m sure they would get a lot of data to see which does the best. I’m sure colors per industry would also make a difference.

  5. IMHO, I like it but:

-Not Possible to Market->Edit Multiple Domains->PPC Parking ( if more than
one domain is chosen, the PPC Parking Option in the field Landing Type is not available, which is harsh, ex: if you want to turn parking on for 500 domains, you will have to click 500 times, or am I missing something ? )
-The Search Box ( Under Market ) only works if the exact match is typed, as opposed to the Search Box under Manage )
-It often crashes ( spinning circle stays there forever, under Mozilla FireFox and sometimes with Chrome too )
-The Edit Portfolio only has the option to Rename ( Settings at a Portfolio level is not supported ? )
-Creation of Portfolio does not show in Firefox ( even after reloading )
-Under Market Options->Sales Settings-> … no matter how many times I set
an option and save, it is not really saving it ( ex: Syndicate My Names option )
-Advanced Report doesnt contain the domain name ( instead there is a field Partner ID )
-Couldnt find a Custom Template section ( for replies )
-The new Lander doesnt display IDN characters properly
    -Slow

I like the fact that Buy it Now allows a direct checkout.

Overall I think it looks good.

    • it seems the following have been fixed.

-The Batch Change on Landing for PPC ( above mentioned ) works nicely now.
-Portfolio creation in Firefox works good now. (although no portfolio level settings )
-Saving Market Options, now does save it indeed.

      That’s great.

My only wish feature would be stats from the actual Uniregistry Search Box
( ex: How many times a given domain name was searched for, to be Registered ), that would very neat when deciding to set a Buy Now for a domain -since
a direct checkout is now available for the domains listed in Uniregistry Market.

      txs,

  6. I personally prefer the old lander much better. And a bolder, thicker font like used on the inquiry form makes the domain more attractive than plain arial used now, looks kind of cheap.

Targeted images for the specific domain makes more sense than pictures of snow covered mountains on a domain relating to taxes, summer resorts, florida real estate, etc. I don’t think it’s a one-size fits all lander.

I’m thinking about moving my portfolio out because of it actually, and unfortunately.
