What Do You Think of the Upgraded Protrada?


A week ago, I reached out to Troy Rushton to let him know I was having a bit of trouble navigating Protrada, and I asked him for some help to best utilize the platform. While walking me through the website, Troy let me know that some major upgrades have been made to the platform over the last few months, and they were just completed.

Now that the upgrades have been completed, Troy let me know he was happy to have users check out the new website and let him know about any glitches, errors, or areas of improvement that are necessary to help the user experience.

Below is a list of the upgrades that were made:

  • Improved the speed on the search algorithm for searching the aftermarket
  • Added filters & daily emails
  • Added import/export of domain data
  • Improved auction bid sniper
  • Developed an API that gets domains distributed through internet marketing channels
  • Added cache (memory) layer so that the search criteria will scan across the different tabs/markets
  • Added more aftermarkets which now include Sedo, Go Daddy, Bido, Namejet, Snap, Dynadot, Afternic, Pool, Fabulous currently adding domain market (Mike) & domain name sales (Frank)
  • Added drop catcher and users can backorder onto Snap & Name Jet simultaneously
  • Added Amazon product count per domain (where relevant)
  • Added the ability to list a domain for sale onto Go Daddy, Sedo, Afternic & Protrada in one screen
  • Added Estibot domain appraisal & Appraiso website appraisal
  • Improved the domain manager area
  • Added TXT notifications for auctions – bidding, losing & won
  • Added live help
  • Added educational videos for beginners
  • Added a basic profit/loss trading tab
  • Added a daily “bargain” list

    Loved the cartoon. :) Hated the 2 simultaneous ticker screens which didn’t flow smoothly….especially the bottom one listing appraised vs sales price. Really discouraging and sort of confusing as the top ticker screen lists domain names sold at much higher prices.

    If you use USD use USD, not USD and Euros…..or have a button to covert to a different language and different currencies. Make it consistent.

    The colors looked like Halloween. :( Liked that you can list domains on four different exchanges though….

    Should be fun once the Fed’s try to control the industry to have registration by certified domainers and brokers, etc…..tax consequences, etc.

    The whole website was not exactly clear enough in language to figure out where to go to do what—but the speed of screen change and manual navigation was okay. But I am a beginner.

    Glad, Elliot that u r still alive after the earthquake….as ur near Boston now, I think.

    Are you able to use Protrada for scanning domains in the same way that you use FreshDrop? I tried it a couple of months ago, but I didn’t really care for it. I may give it another shot.

    36 comments about the earthquake and two luke warm comments about protrada.

    I guess I’m not the only one that doesn’t use it.

    I give them a lot of credit for investing all that time and money into the industry but since there are hardly any comments here either way, it would appear that no one really uses the service.

    Am I wrong?

    What’s the BEST thing about Protrada? I would love to read a reason to give it a try.

      I think it would be beneficial to know why you don’t use it.

      From what I’ve seen, it has some great domain management features (and more). I am glad I had a second look last week, and I plan to explore more soon.

    Protrada seems to have thrown ALOT of money and time around a product that yes, is revolutionary to the industry in many ways.

    I think the problem is they are trying to do way to many things at once, and they are OK at all of them.

    My advice to them would be focus on one thing you truly do better then anyone else in the industry and market and build the product around that over time.

    I have tried to use it many times and I was blown away at all the options, but didn’t find any reason to really return.

    I think and hope they are rewarded for their efforts as I can tell they have put time, money and sweat into it… but I do think for it to really take off users need to know, whats your best feature Protrada?

    Got a ton of emails months back, tried to use it, was buggy, did not give me accurate results, they tried to sell it, before perfecting it. Did not have time to beta some hyped up platform, can’t be bother to waste anymore time with it. We domainers are a fickle bunch, fool me once shame on me, fool me twice shame on you.

    its a great business platform for domainers as it put together various domaining methods. However from what i have observed so far, everyone has to have their own domaining business methods and models. If we have your own process of making decisions it makes us more comfortable and successful as we see thing our way.

    So this is one area that make people not use DomainTools, Protrada or other platforms, until there is a clear opportunity of making money or quick money.

    Domaining methods may be an idea for a post in future..

    Personally, I don’t trust any product that Alex Mandossian is involved in. His prices are 4 times higher than other products/trainings. You are then stuck staying with his services/products. They have very little staff so the customer service is poor. So until I hear that he has not limited people in staying with his product/services(almost impossible to get your website off of UIBC to another company) and that his customer service is alot better, I will be skeptical about Protrada.

      I am disappointed in your UIBC/Marketingonline.com staff. Once again, they didn’t follow through with your promise to move our websites. Can you confirm that you personally will be moving our sites ASAP so we will not be billed $75 another month for hosting?     I had high hopes for Alex because he seems very energetic, fun and exciting. However, Alex doesn’t put the resources needed to run a company that takes care of customers.(Like a Kmart company vs a Nordstrom) I have never seen such poor customer service from a Hosting/domain Registrar company. This is not Amy’s fault. She does her very best to handle the hundreds of issues she receives each week. I finally hired someone to spend many, many hours taking everything off UIBC to transfer to another hosting company (Bluehost). I hope that in the future, Alex Mandossian puts in more honest business practices that warn people ahead of time that it will cost participants a great deal of money if they ever want to leave UIBC or any of his other website/hosting companies.
