What Domain Tool Would You Like?

Every so often, I think of a domain tool that I would like to have, and I ask around to see if someone offers what I want. More often than not, I learn that an industry company already offers that tool, and I can decide whether it’s worth signing up (and possibly paying) to get access to it.

Once in a while, I think of something that doesn’t exist yet, and I can either ask a company to create it or I can hire a developer to build something for me. The advantage of the first is the cost and time savings since I don’t have to do anything other than wait, and the advantage of the second is that I can have exclusive access to something beneficial to my business.

If you have a tool in mind that you think might benefit you, and you want to see if it exists or you’d like someone else to create it, I invite you to share something that you would find beneficial. There are several innovative companies in this space, and I bet someone would be willing to tackle your project to benefit other domain investors. The more tools at our disposal, the better off we are.

I’ll even start with a tool I’d find helpful. I’d like a Chrome extension I can turn on when using NameJet that will highlight names that meet specific criteria I select. For example, if I want .com domain names that are 10 years old or older that have PR and inbound links, those names will be highlighted in my search queries. Perhaps this is something that NameJet could build, but I would imagine someone else could make some money by offering the tool (it would have to be someone trustworthy). I know I can use Protrada for this, but I can see it being beneficial when I do last second bidding and sort all names with bids.

What domain tool would you like to have created to help your business?

  1. I want an inexpensive drop catching service that can compete with the big boys like Reberry. If it already exists please let me know.

  2. Reyberry is responsible for low pricing quick sells, everyone feels his sickness. Can you catch 1090 names a day and try to flip them quick causes chaos in the markets when 1 party does this to inventory.

  3. I would like an automated tool to send sales emails to potential users.

If you do your research it takes many many hours….and I find it very boring and tedious.

Can we cut that time in half? or 80-90% and still have a high quality list?

    Everything automated…personalized sales templates……salutations…etc etc.

Search your name’s niche and related verticals.

I know Estibot and others have lead generation tools and you can buy scripts.

I am no programmer but would even partner and underwrite with someone if interested.

    Thanks.

  4. I would like a bulk tool for checking how many domains with which a registrant is associated. I would like to be able enter a list of domains, and then see how many domains the owner of each given domain is associated with.

I know you can find this info on webboar.com and domaintools.com, but it is not possible to do so in bulk.

  5. I’d like to see a domain pricing rountable app. You submit a domain name via a form to the app. Ten domainers who subscribe get e-mailed your domain with request to place a value on it. The app collects the valuations, averages the 10 numbers after receiving all, and e-mails you all the results. You could either pay for the pricing service as a one time fee or you could participate in voting (e.g., a certain number of votes gets you one free pricing). This would discourage mass submissions. The app owner could even recruit big domainers like Frank and Rick to randomly weigh in. Wouldn’t that be cool to see one of those guys valuing one of your domains? I always find pricing my domains to be one of the most difficult tasks as a domainer.

  6. I guess I want too many tools, but why not share them? =]

    1. I’m really surprised that there’re few domain management software competitors to Domain Punch. I’m aware of Excel spreadsheets, but still haven’t seen cloud hosted version of DomainPunch (but with smartphone apps; with modern security system similar to gmail or facebook sms notifications; with sms email and sms notifications on expiring domain). I guess we have to wait for Morgan to launch his FashionMetric and kindly ask him to code for us 😉

    2. I also wish there was a decent alternative or specialized “domainer” version of Salesforce.com. I’ve seen debt collection case management systems based on Salesforce CRM and I guess domain industry “giants” might use something similar tweaked for their needs. I’ve started using SalesForce CRM, but it feels so overloaded with so many tools + functions that it would take some time to understand. I’ve checked Highrise CRM, but even the basic version is a bit pricey ($24/month)

    3. I know this idea has its flaws and might too hard to implement, but anyway I’m “vocalizing” it. I’ve shared this one with one major domain marketplace management already.. So what about the feature that would allow outgoing emails from parked domain owner to potential end users? I know it’s a thin line between spam email campaigns and one time direct emails, but that would feature would make potential end users more aware of domains available for sale.

Anyway, there’re plenty other tool ideas, but hope to share them next time =]

  7. Spike, this has existed for years, it was created by Craig Rowe (DomainApps CEO) and called GroupValuation.com.
The site has been shutted down recently for lack of use I guess.
It never succeed except the first months as a curiosity. This is due because people were mainly using automated tools like Valuate.com or Estibot.com to provide their own appraisal and this way get credit to ask appraisals of their names.

  8. Interesting thread. Personally, I’d be interested in a venue for connecting programmers, domainers, project managers, marketers, and financial backers to create such tools.

Few people have 100% of the skills and 100% of the time and 100% of the capital necessary to get the right project up and running. But those skills and time and capital are distributed within the domaining community.

  9. I’d like to see a free platform to put domains for auction, working only on percentage on successful auctions and permitting creation of false bidders, like ALL BUSINESSES OUT THERE DO.
