WhyPark is Now Domain Apps

DomainAppsI just received the press release below announcing that WhyPark is now officially known as Domain Apps. If you are a WhyPark customer, there is some important information that you need to know in order to make the transition seamless. The full press release is below with all of this important information.

What do you think about the name change?

Press release sent to WhyPark customers:

Thank you for being a valued WhyPark customer. We continue to look for new ways to earn revenue for our customers while making domain monetization as simple as possible. Starting today, you will manage your account and domains through Domain Apps (www.domainapps.com) rather than WhyPark.

How This Affects You

The WhyPark dashboard has been retired and forwards to Domain Apps (www.domainapps.com). Login with the same email and password that you previously used on WhyPark.
The first time you login to Domain Apps, you will complete a very quick, five-step migration. When finished, all of your domains will be available to manage, view reports, etc. through Domain Apps.
Domain Apps Advantages

More monetization options; Choose to develop your content sites as you previously have through WhyPark, or monetize through traditional domain parking from one interface. You can switch back and forth at any time with a single click.
More payment options; receive payments via PayPal, check, direct deposit (US only) or International Wire Transfer.
New reports; view your estimated revenue for the current day, prior to any final stats being received by our advertising partners. Revenue from your parked domains and content sites are consolidated into a single report.
Future growth; we’ve laid the groundwork to enable even more monetization options to be added in the future.
New, but familiar; The Domain Apps brand more accurately reflects a wider range of monetization options than WhyPark. We feel we’ve outgrown the original brand with the launch of our apps in 2010 and our future plans. However, the Domain Apps interface and functionality will be very familiar to WhyPark customers.
What You Need to Do

The first time you login to Domain Apps, you will complete the migration process. That’s it! Your domains will remain unaffected and you will be able to quickly start managing your domains again. You will receive an email when the migration process has been completed. This can range from under 1 minute to several minutes, depending on the number of domains you have with us.
Nameservers

In order to take advantage of the ability to switch between parking and content sites, be sure to change your nameservers to use ns1.domainapps.com and ns2.domainapps.com. Please note that our existing nameservers will stay online. Your domains will continue to resolve without issue, but will not be able to be switched between content and parking. Any changes you make will continue to be live.
We’re Here to Help

Even though we feel these new additions will be a benefit to our customers, we also understand that change can be difficult. We’re here to help and answer any questions you may have. Please contact us through live chat in your account or at support@domainapps.com
Best wishes for a successful 2012!

  1. My traffic on WhyPark is down considerably the last six months. My guess is WhyPark got hurt badly in Google’s panda updates.

I applaud the name change. If anything, it removes the word “park” from the brand, which can only help. Domain parking sites are clearly in Google’s sites.

I plan to move my DNS away from the toxic WhyPark to the new Domainapps this weekend. It will be interesting to see if traffic improves.

  2. I doubt it if your traffic improves.
Most parking sites have been running
their business entirely at the expense
of domain owners. I parked 70 domains
and received not a penny. The system
is rigged to bill advertisers for the
collective traffic and clicks generated across
thousands of domains, even if a parked domain
registers only one visit/click a day. The domain owner
sees the statistic and let’s it go at that.

  3. Be warned, I’ve unfortunately just heard that any domains that were parked with Whypark are one by one being black listed by Google, dumped off SERPS, never to return. Not good if you are planning to go on at a later date to develop them. I’m guessing that DomainApps will be dished out the same treatment. Great shame, WP was such a great idea in principle!

  4. Interesting Elliot, goes against everything I’ve been hearing elsewhere though. It’s my understanding that the Google Panda assasin is on the war path for anything Whypark. Do you have other examples at all?

  5. @ Elliot -Thanks for the post. I have domains parked everywhere with the same dismal results – but will have to check it out.

@Sarawan – have you had any halfway respectable results from ANY parking options? Curious if GDaddy pay for content thing has worked for anyone too but just can’t convince myself to pay them just to split a “possible” income.

    Thanks again.

  6. I have experimented a lot with Parking over the last 2 years, determined to make it work as a concept and have only found one method that truly works. Writing my own Parking pages using a simple WYSIWYG program. In fact it has been so successful that 5 domains earnt me a grand total of £1000.00 last year! As opposed to pennies with a Parking company. It obviously takes a bit more effort, but still only took me no more than 4 hours to knock each one up. I just copied the same layout over, applied a little bit of on site SEO and changed the text and photos for each domain. Job Done!

  7. Thanks for the tip. Hope it’s not considered bad etiquette to ask in a comment as it does relate to parking and WhyPark, but would certainly appreciate seeing an example of a quick content site that works the best for you?

I have a lot of domains and with a lot involving mortgage, insurance, healthcare, diets, etc – still they don’t cover their own renewals. I guess I’m a bi-polar domain buyer (there’s a new domain term) and go on buying sprees only to later look at some of the domains and have to ask myself WTF were you thinking bidding so high on this junk. Lol . I’ll take a look at spearhead and hopefully can find examples there?

  8. Hi Banklive, I don’t have the five money spinners posted on Spearhead for obvious reasons, everybody will copy the domain concept. I have been lucky (well a lot of trial and error actually!) and stumbled on a 3 keyword search phrase that has high search/low competition in Yahoo as well as Google. Google Panda butchered two of the five but because I’m also top of Yahoo/Bing search I’m still earning regularly. The freesat domain posted on Spearhead will give you a flavour of what the Parking pages look like though. The Freesat one hardly earns me anything by the way because I didn’t do my RESEARCH, I just thought it looked cool. It’s a medium to low search/high competition, my parking pages only work on the very low competition phrases. Fairly obvious really because there’s hardly any content.

  9. @Mike 2 – I understand that you’re not trying to “create your competition” and although it would take a million mini-minnow 4 or 5 page sites on the domains like I have any effect in the big ol’ pond online – I do appreciate the example.

  10. I cannot login to Domain Apps:
“Your username or email address was not found. Please try again.”

I wrote an email to Parked and they answersed to me that I should make a phone call to be informed about the changes. Yes, you’ve read correct: I must spend money for an international call to know how I can access to my domain control panel. Unbelievable.

  11. I solved writing an email to Domain Apps assistence. They corrected my account problem and now I can login to domainapps.com and founded all my domains and statistics, including the small revenue earned till now. There’s only to change the domain dns to ns1.domainapps.com and ns2.domainapps.com.
