NameJet and Right of the Dot Team up for NamesCon Auction

According to a press release that was published today, NameJet and Right of the Dot are teaming up to run a live auction that will be held during the NamesCon conference in January. The auction will be held on January 11, 2016 at 2:00 PM Pacific (5pm Eastern) at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas. For domain names that do not sell during the live auction, there will be an online auction for 10 days following the event.

There have been quite a few domain names entered into the auction already, and more will be added over the next few weeks. At the time of publication, some of my favorite domain names (not considering the reserve prices) include:

  • Genetics.com
  • Homecoming.com
  • Landlords.com
  • Lawn.com
  • Consignment.com

The press release mentions that auction submissions will be considered until November 20, 2015. Submissions may be made via the Right of the Dot website. As domain names are accepted into the auction, they will be added to the NamesCon auction page on NameJet.

I have published the press release below:

NamesCon 2016 Live and Online Domain Name Auction Hosted by RightOfTheDot and NameJet

RightOfTheDot and NameJet have partnered to launch the premium domain name auction that will occur online on the NameJet website in conjunction with the live domain name auction that will be held at NamesCon 2016.

RightOfTheDot is a leading Internet domain name sales, brokerage, auction, consulting and advisement firm. Combined with NameJet’s premier aftermarket domain name auction platform and the heavily attended NamesCon conference, this collaboration will produce one of the most exciting domain events of the year.

The auctions will feature some of the best .com and new gTLD names available anywhere including, NIGHT.CLUB, DEGREES.COM, LODGES.COM, REAL.PROPERTY, WEB.HOSTING, 88.XYZ, and WEDDING.GIFT. There will be 400+ names expected to be included in the auction with 100-125 being offered at the live auction and many will be priced at no and low reserve. Submissions have just opened and RightOfTheDot will accept submissions here: http://rotd.com/namescon-auction/ and consider premium domains for inclusion in this exclusive auction until November 20, 2015. Accepted names will be added continually before the start of NamesCon so you will want to check the auction page often for new additions and bidding activity.

“We are excited to be working with RightOfTheDot and NamesCon in this exclusive auction event.” said Scott Pruitt, Marketing Director, NameJet. “RightOfTheDot and NamesCon are leaders in the domain space, and with NameJet’s strong position in the domain aftermarket we are looking forward to seeing some great results.”
“NameJet and RightOfTheDot make the perfect combination for this premier event.” said Monte Cahn, President / Director of RightOfTheDot, LLC. “Our market leading positions and expertise in domain sales, auctions, and brokerage in new and existing Top Level Domains will make for the most successful NamesCon auction yet!”

A NameJet account is required to participate in the online and live auctions. Bids for domains may be placed now on the NameJet website, but domains will continued to be added until the end of November. RightOfTheDot will conduct the live auction on January 11, 2016 at 2:00 PM Pacific Time at the NamesCon Domain Industry Event at the New Tropicana Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV. Following the live auction, the online auction will continue on NameJet for an additional 10 days, closing on January 21, 2016.

  1. Consignment.com is possibly the best name to acquire on this list? Awesome business model.

Why? Consignment has emerged as the most lucrative business model in Silicon Valley. Rely on people to provide products, and then sell this inventory for a profit. I know of two startups within 50 feet of one another who make serious revenue after all expenses are paid out.

Why? These companies have nothing to lose acquiring goods for consignment. Their business model is acquiring inventory from people and setting percentage terms.

I purchased such items from a particular startup that I previously worked at. They receive access to affordable and unique products.

Based on my experience working at two product-based startups, I saw firsthand how consignments work and how they generate revenue. These startups don’t have to risk buying inventory. They rely on consignments, which give them access to inventory to make profit. They reinvest this revenue back into their company. It is a business cycle that is sustainable.

The future owner of consignment can develop a website that cuts out the middle man. People want to sell their items. People want to save on purchases. Trust is a major factor. Build a brand on consignment.com. Build trust. Build a presence. Build lasting revenue. It is a win-win for everyone.

Thanks for sharing your hot domain picks in this auction.

  2. If I owned embrace.com, I would sell this to Dove and/or another company that use this term to promote their products. In a Twitter link, embrace is mentioned to describe curls.

A 6-figure deal is possible to move this domain. IMO, I’m sure you own other domains that can be used to sell your premium dot com domains. You can make 10X your investment. Just a thought.
