PR: Sedo Running Winter Sports .Club Auction

Sedo and the .Club domain registry have announced a special auction of winter sports .Club domain names. In total, there will be 25 winter sports .Club domain names up for auction, including Snowboarding.club, Skiing.club, IceHockey.club, and others.

The full details about this auction are contained in the joint press release below. If you have any questions about the auction, you can either post them here or direct them to Sedo or the .Club registry, which are running the auction jointly.

Press release follows:

Sedo, the world’s largest domain marketplace and monetization provider, and .CLUB Domains have partnered to offer a Winter Sports Auction of never before released .CLUB domain names. Taking place February 19-26, this auction will include 25 premium winter sports-related names with the .CLUB extension, including Snowboarding.club, Skiing.club, IceHockey.club and more. The highest bidder will be given first priority to acquire the domain name from .CLUB at the winning bid price after .CLUB’s sunrise phase – a period reserved for trademark holder registrations – ends on March 29, 2014

“This auction is all about getting a domain name that truly expresses and targets the passionate communities around these popular sports,” said Colin Campbell, chairman and CEO of .CLUB Domains. “The .CLUB domain extension gives true meaning to the right of the dot like never before, and we’re expecting a lot of interest from sporting goods manufacturers, retailers and more who want to own these online categories.”

Sedo is an expert in domain auctions, including pre-sale, sunrise, landrush, and premium name auctions. It is currently running sunrise auctions for many of the new generic top-level domains (gTLDs) like .CLUB, including extensions such as .bike, .clothing, .shoes, .coffee, and .email. The .CLUB Winter Sports Auction will be Sedo’s first pre-sale auction for the new gTLDs, and the first auction in which the highest bidders are given pre-registration priority since Sedo’s pre-sale auction of two-letter .de domains in 2009.

“The new gTLDs present an incredible opportunity for companies to stake their claim to the most valuable of Internet real estate,” said Tobias Flaitz, CEO of Sedo. “This Winter Sports domain auction offers an equally unique approach to pre-registrations with .CLUB that will enable companies to acquire their desired domain names in an even more timely fashion.”

The .CLUB Winter Sports Auction includes domains that represent a wide range of price points. A full list of the .CLUB Winter Sports Auction names and more details about the auction are available online at: www.sedo.com/club.
