Back to work! The new year has begun, and I expect that next week is going to be busy. I will be following up on several leads that came in over the holidays, and I am looking forward to getting the year off to a running start.

Here are some updates, tips, and thoughts to begin the week:
- I don’t know about you, but I am ready for people to get back to work and down to business. I have a few deals in the offing (mostly buys), and it seems like people have been on vacation or working less for the last few weeks. I am getting antsy and ready to make some deals!
- There have been quite a few times I had loser’s remorse. This happens when I lose an auction or decline a purchase opportunity that I regret later. I don’t know what is worse, seller’s remorse or loser’s remorse. I would say probably seller’s remorse. I think buyer’s remorse is the worse of the three types of remorse because that usually means a loss was realized or will be realized.
- I have been following Braden Pollock’s adventures (through their photos on Facebook and Twitter), and it looks like he and Lisa are having a fantastic time. I have been fortunate enough to do quite a bit of traveling around the world in the last few years, but when I see their photos, it makes me realize how much of the world I have left to visit.
- Speaking of travel, I think the top 10 cities outside of the US I’ve visited in the last few years are (in no particular order): Tamarindo (Costa Rica), Paris (France), Amsterdam (Netherlands), Panama City (Panama), Tremblant (Canada), Brugge (Belgium), Dubrovnik (Croatia), San Gimignano (Italy), Pedasi (Panama), and Venice (Italy). Where are your favorite places to travel?
- Rightside is looking to hire a “Technical Evangelist.” Seems like an interesting job opening (and job title) for someone.
- I am looking forward to the  Jeff Gabriel panel at NamesCon. Hopefully there will be some good questions asked, and hopefully Jeff will be able to answer them without.
- I was sad to hear of the passing of ESPN’s Stuart Scott. I grew up watching ESPN SportsCenter in the mornings before school, and I always enjoyed watching him when he was an anchor.
- One of my favorite tools to use to find unregistered domain names is NameTumbler.com. I search for various keywords and other terms from the drop down menu, and I then search availability at my favorite registrar(s). It’s an oldie, but still a goodie.
So you didn’t like Punta Cana enough to include this beautiful place in your top 10?
I liked Punta Cana but it wasn’t as special to me as the other places. It’s probably because we didn’t leave the Iberostar resort and didn’t get to see the area outside of the resort.
Don’t get me wrong, we had a great time there and I would go back.

Cinque Terre, Italy. Picturesque and quaint, right on the water, and you can hike between the different towns.
We spent a few days in Monterosso and we did one hike. It was the middle of the Summer, so it was very hot.

I can tell you guys travel to regions that culturally your “type”.
Seems like you guys do not travel to places completely different, totally out of your comfort zones!
Most of my travels these days are places that are within 6-8 hours of flying time since we have a 2.5 year old.
Traveling with kids is completely different.
Traveling to a place where you don’t speak the language could be a bit awkward. It is also easier to travel to a foreign country if the company you work for is paying for the trip. I had the opportunity to spend a weekend in Santiago, Chile and Sao Paulo, Brazil as a Sunday evening return flight was cheaper than a Friday evening flight. I have been to Mexico City three times and was pleasantly surprised as I had read extensively about the smog and dangers of taxis there. There is a nice park there (Chapultepec) and some ruins (Teotihuacan) on the outskirts of the city. Mexico City is an OK place to visit but any destination where safety is an issue makes it less desirable.

It’s a big world and I’d like to see as much of it as possible. The two most interesting cities I’ve been to this year (and that I’d recommend) are Lalibella, Ethiopia and Bagan, Myanmar.

Chengmai is a cool place, don’t forget to see the angkor watt and feed the chicken to the crocs and big pythons.
As you know now Branden, there are many many superior islands in that part of the world and snorkeling is the best in the world. Hate to tell you this, Hawaii is overrated.

Chiang Mai is very cool. So is Angkor Wat – although it’s in Cambodia. Chaing Mai is Thailand. In either case, I wouldn’t feed a chicken to anything 🙂
It’s winter out hear. It’s the high season in the 70’s and 80’s without a single drop of rain. It rains July-Oct and is usually not this time of year.
While I agree that Hawaii is certainly overrated and expensive, it is beatiful and only 4 hours from LA.
I don’t do any traveling except a recent trip in November to nearby state. Here is one of my thoughts, however:

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank Elliot, Braden, BullS, Nadia, Leonard Britt, Blogster, and others for reminding me of what a boring life I lead. 🙂 Hey, at least I’m going to Las Vegas next week.
Prague and Barcelona for its architecture. For relaxation I still prefer my Algarve, especially the almost deserted islands and beaches. No planes, just a few minutes by boat.

Elliott, I don’t know how you travel at all, my twin girls are 7 and it’s a brutal traveling even 1 hour from our house with them. Once they turn about 10 and we will start doing lot’s of traveling with them so they will enjoy it more.
