10 Recent Domain Buys

On occasion, I like to share some of the domain names I have recently acquired. I think it gives people an idea of the types of domain names I buy on behalf of my company, and that might offer some color into my business and the advice I share. Most of the domain names I buy are keyword names that I think can be used as brands – either by my company or by a subsequent buyer.

One thing you will notice is the lack of “Chips” and short domain names on the list below. During the past few weeks, I did buy several domain names that I think would appeal to the Chinese market, and all of those domain names were privately sold. I would consider myself an opportunistic buyer, so I may or may not buy more. I am closely watching the market for investment and blogging purposes.

Listed below are a random assortment of 10 domain names my company has acquired in the last few weeks. For several reasons, I did not include any domain names that have already been re-sold. As always, I invite you to share some of the domain names you recently acquired (not hand registered).

  2. Mania.com is a great name.
Short, one word and generic is where the action is these days. We have a lot of success selling short one word generic .com names.
That was a great pickup and could potentially be a memorable brand for a future buyer. Great job on that one. Love the name.

  3. All those hand reg domains at 99cent coupons are getting high offers…love it!!

    chickenseaweed.com
    winkhub.com getting tons of traffic
    volunteercook.com
    generationhotel.com
    petdecorators.com

  4. Travels.com is a really nice name. This year has been slow which I believe is largely due to new TLDs so I have regged fewer new names and dropped more names than in any prior year -even when I was dropping newbie names 2006-2008.

  5. That is a great list, it’s great you show some of your purchases, good to see what seasoned investors are buying.

  9. Eliot … I think you summed up the best way to buy a domain via contacting an owner. Make a fair offer and at the very least there is a possibility of a discussion. Your success at finding end users that will sell confirms what you said. The days of finding end users who don’t know there is at least reasonable value to their quality domains are few and far between these days. Nice buys.

  10. I agree Mania is an awesome single word domain…

I noticed on namebio that someone purchased today on Filppa domain-mania.info $1695.00 no idea why at that price especially with the hyphen???

Mania would make a great company brand for a video game, tech or sports company especially out of Asia… It’s a massive industry globally
