10 Recent Domain Name Purchases & Acquisitions

62

It’s been a while since I’ve shared some of my recent domain name purchases, so I thought I would share a handful of them today. You are welcome to share some of your domain name acquisitions in the comment section if you’d like. This isn’t the appropriate place to list names for sale though :)

The 5 domain names below were either purchased in private or purchased at auction. Generally, I’ve been buying directly from domain owners or via NameJet. That hasn’t changed all that much.

5 recent domain acquisitions:

  • Compost.com
  • VisitZimbabwe.com
  • WineBarrels.com
  • WineFurniture.com
  • WebmasterGuide.com

I have been hand registering domain names a bit more lately. All of my hand registrations have been .com domain names, and I think most are under privacy (free at Uniregistry). I still look at hand registrations as sort of like lottery tickets.

5 recent hand registrations are:

  • FantasyFootballArbitrator.com
  • HazMatMitigation.com
  • EarlobeReconstruction.com
  • DormRoomStorage.com
  • OregonPsychologist.com

zimbabwe.travel is available for registration and even it is not .com name, still seems be good enough choice, and much cheaper than to buy visitzimbabwe.com for $8k

There are lots of random extensions available for reg fee.

I’ve had 3 inquiries in the last month from the name through the DNS lander. One is a safari company and I am not sure about the other two.

Speaking of earlobe reconstruction, I regged

    Eartox.com

    It’s a “botox” for ears.

Compost.com blows everything else out of the water. I would estimate you paid $20-30K for it. I would also estimate it makes between $.50-1.00/day from parking. Congrats.

Compost.com – great name. Control the industry! I am wondering if a news aggregation site like Domaining.com or Bitkoin would be a good fit?

The sites seem to make $$ from the ads and sponsored headlines.

    I recently grabbed
    Packaging.ca
    Kuln.com

Zimbabwe is mostly savannah, with some mountainous forrests and Victoria Falls, one of the biggest waterfalls in the world. There are ruins. It has safari tours. I like VisitZimbabwe.com!

Three weeks ago, I hand registered brandable,

    ippove.com

which was my first accepted BrandBucket submission – yay! After over a year, and some dozen submissions, Brandbucket accepted it.

ipprove.com is rad for the iot industry.

    Compost.com (Winner!)

Could the others really be worth your time? Have a hard time believing they could be…

    October 28th, 2014 at 12:22 am

    Raider

Nice pickups Elliot.. Wish you all the best with them.

    October 28th, 2014 at 12:39 am

      John

Which is better, Raider, my candor, or your incredulous support and endorsement for all of them? 😀 Probably only with time consuming effort for ones that don’t get inquiries, some of them might fetch a modest gain, but hardly worth it if you ask me. And apparently Elliot thinks he can hold out for more on the one he said got some bites, unless there were no offers with those bites.

Okay, don’t take this personally, I still like you and am only giving you a hard time here. Plus you have been rather cool to me anyway. Take care… 😀

In reply to Raider | October 28th, 2014 at 8:27 pm

      Raider

My endorsement for all of them? LMAO! your pulling my leg right?. Honestly I like two of Elliot’s names and the rest not at all.. I’ve been too critical of what people register and I’m trying to change my ways, but now that you pulled me back in, let me say that most of the domain names others took the liberty to post here are IMO “Newbie CRAP”, the yellow kind that wont be used in compost.

Funny thing is, they must think their good otherwise they wouldn’t embarrass themselves by posting them here.

In reply to John | October 28th, 2014 at 10:05 pm

      John

      LOL.

Well Raidy Raidy, it doth appear there be a wee bit o’ “cognitive dissonance” between

“Nice pickups Elliot.. Wish you all the best with them.”

      and

      “Honestly I like two of Elliot’s names and the rest not at all”;

But since I have now successfully managed to call you back to greater candor and your often potent delivery where you often shine so well, I’m confident even Elliot would be happier that way.

Yes indeed, so much junk here, domainers gone wild…

Compost.com is a great name, but I also like OregonPsychologist.com since it is a 2 words .com and very meaningful. I have tried to find free .com but only got some meaningful .org domains for free registration :

    Euh! What are “hand registered”?

Do you mean domains created from scratch by you and then you register them?

If so, why would you want to register a “new” domain as opposed to aged domains with authority already?

Anyway, compost.com is a big winner IMOO.

    I just grabbed:

    NiMHbattery.com
    potentiated.com
    cameradreams.com
    monotypic.com
    LeFrancophile.com

I’m new to domaining and I love it so far even though I haven’t made significant amount of money with it so far.

Nice to ear from other domainers.

Hi Elliot1 Good to see you posting again!
Out of your names, ere is what I think…

    Compost.com -Think it’s a winner, and a great domain!

VisitZimbabwe.com- Not so sure with the whole ebola thing..Wondering who wants to go to Africa unless they have a death wish…Maybe there’s something I’m not seeing here…

WineBarrels.com- Absolutely Love it! Another great domain, and lots of wineries around!

WineFurniture.com-I like this one too! You must’ve had wine on the mind…lol

WebmasterGuide.com- I really like this one..There is a whole slew of potential end users with this one!

FantasyFootballArbitrator.com- Don’t really care for..Too long, but better than some I’ve seen.

HazMatMitigation.com- I have no idea what this even means, so gonna skip it for those who do.

EarlobeReconstruction.com- I think this is a good one, but how many earlobe reconstruction doctors are actually our there? I do think it’s a keeper though..Just might take some time to find the right end user.

DormRoomStorage.com- This could be a good one..Never thought of this concept before, but I’m sure a lot of college kids have!

OregonPsychologist.com- I love it! Great geo domain!

Overall I think you did really good! I don’t think I’ve ever looked at a list and liked more than what I didn’t…lol..No offense to anyone…As I said I think compost is a winner, but I think you have more winners here than just that one. Have a great day!

Have recently hand regged over 50 IoT domains incl IoTCertified.com IoTfunding.com. Many others. We think IoTindustry and potential for application is bigger than 3d and prime for speculative trend domain investment.

    Hi Elliot
    just wondering is
    BeaPHD.COM

    worth keeping?

    October 29th, 2014 at 2:38 pm

    kwan Nyathi

Hello Elliot, I am quite fascinated by your choice to buy VisitZimbabwe.com. I wonder what plans you have for that name, mind sharing?

    October 29th, 2014 at 5:52 pm

      Elliot Silver

The plan is to sell it profitably, presumably to a travel company specializing in high end safaris.

      October 29th, 2014 at 5:55 pm

      kwan Nyathi

You certainly won’t find a shortage of those, it’s my country of birth and I know that’s a very good market. Good Luck !

    SkyDomains

All great names. Compost.com quickly jumps out to a domainer but for the end user who wants to build a business VisitZimbabwe and the others have there allure. As for the poster with the reference of Ebola and Africa: Ebola will not last forever.
